I've never needed a day off sick yet but my daughter who works with children is often told not to come in if she even has a slight sniffle, I suppose it depends on the type of job you do wether or not you need more sick days.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Yes, its four occasions, not 6. Be grateful they don't run the Bradford Scoring system!
Yeah, a lot of people on here are bashing you for the sickness however thats not our place as we can't see how ill you were on each occasion. Its all very well being the "I'm going in even if.." type but sometimes that leads to other people picking things up and more staff being ill!
If the manager says they are ok with it then I think you are ok. Just try not to to have any more for a while.0 -

Brett works with people who are vulnerable to infections.
Vomiting and diarrhoea can be signs of infection that spreads pretty easily, CDiff, Norovirus, 'flu, salmonella etc. that could be really bad news for people with low immunity.
Its sensible for care homes, schools, hospitals and so on to have that rule but it doesn't matter so much in an office of healthy adults.
There's no rule for mysterious sore throats that are debilitating one day and fine the next.0 -

Don't know a great deal about it, but my company uses it. It's a way of 'scoring' sick leave and when you reach a certain score, certainly at my company they automatically start the process through which they start to 'manage' your attendance.
The idea behind it is that lots of little absences are worse than one long period of sick leave - so if you have a couple of odd days off a month over a year that gives you a higher score than if (for example) you are off once for a six week period, because the score is calculated on the number separate instances of absence rather than just their duration. My company also looks at the days that you take off - like if there's a pattern of you taking Mondays or Fridays off sick, or if you are sick when you are supposed to return from leave. I have known people be disciplined for that when it's reached rather obviously excessive levels. However I don't think that's part of the Bradford Scoring System.0 -

As the other poster said 3 days over 1 absence means much less trouble than 3 days over 3 absences.0 -
Would any of these sick days be the sick days that you were planning to have because you had exams and they wouldn't let you take leave?0
