    So you're on 4.

Try to stop taking single days. What's 'sickness' anyway? Unexplained vomiting? Food poisoning?

A sore throat that was so bad it stopped you from being able to work at all one day but you were ok the next? That seems unlikely, a sore throat alone is no big deal and a sore throat caused by a bigger problem doesn't just disappear overnight.

Be careful, stop staying off for minor things like sore throats. You never know when you'll be really truly ill and you don't want to be the boy who cried wolf.

I have to say, I think most employers would be less suspicious if you had one long episode with a clear reason like a broken leg or a chest infection etc. rather than lots of sporadic days here and there.
    .

Yeah I once had kidney stones (ended up passing 11 nice stones) and was off for 7 days. Went to the doctors twice and had all the medication as back up along with the pain killers and the stones in a pot lol Only counted as one period of sickness but I bet if 7 days became 10 they would have said something to me.

the april one i was very ill had to go to docs anyway.

I have been here a year on 31/10/12 so I have to try and be careful not to get ill between now and then.

Good job our manager is unstrict really to be fair.

    So what's 'sickness'?

I take it the April one was the sore throat? If you went to the doctor surely you would have got a note with something more specific like tonsillitis listed as the reason?

I know you work in care, so I would suggest that as well as your 'unstrict' manager you also need to think about the rest of your colleagues. One person absent makes a huge difference to the workload for the rest of the staff and can affect the standard of care they are able to give. Its not really on to take time off when you don't absolutely need it.

Most places do have a 3 day policy for D and V.

One day off for a sore throat though, that's pretty poor.
