  • Well, hello 2015 :) I suppose I'd better come up with some resolutions.

    1. Pay off the remaining £10,840 of debt.
    2. Close down the bead shop.
    3. Get at least four non-agency transcription jobs each month.
    4. Write and publish the transcription book.
    5. Write and publish either six erotic short stories or one erotic novel.
    6. Run the Loch Ness marathon.
    7. Enjoy turning 40 :)
That should keep me fairly busy ;)

Blimey that WILL keep you busy!
    Must use my stash up!
  • I thought of another couple!

    8. Declutter the annexe (I'll take some pictures next week so you can see what a mammoth task this is!).
    9. Get the garden under control.

I ended up having a fiddle around with the transcription website last night - wrote a FAQ for it and simplified the pricing. Today I've invoiced the agency and my one regular private client for December's proofreading and transcription work.

We did the weekly shop today because we're collecting hay tomorrow. 'We only need a few bits,' said Mr Minx. £100 later....
  • Mr Minx and I are staggering around like a pair of geriatrics this evening (we're actually 39 and 47!) after lugging 40 bales of hay from the farmer's barn to the road trailer, from the road trailer to the field trailer and then from as far as we could get the quad and field trailer (bottom of the second field) to the hay shed (half way down the third field). It was so muddy that we ended up having to wheelbarrow them over the hill and come down to the shelter area via the muck heap and as Mr Minx pulled his psoas muscle badly a few weeks ago, he was stacking and I was barrowing. Currently looking a bit like this: exhausted.gif

Friends are currently being a bad influence and trying to persuade me to buy a mare for sale a couple of hours away - 2 year old Friesian x Highland and they're only asking £275. If I wasn't in debt, I might have gone to have a look at her as a project, but given I am and I already have two and a half horses to look after (did I mention the half? Don't think I did. Forget you saw anything ;):D ) she can carry on being leggy and pretty a couple of hours away!

The half is a lovely bay mare who lives in the field next door. Her owner's a bit stretched for time, as she's got a near-90-mile commute for work, lives three miles away (the house next door is derelict), has her other horses on livery four miles in the other direction and now has a new boyfriend as well, so since the mare was looking a bit unloved, I stuck my oar in and asked if it would help if I fed her twice a day - so she's a sort of temporary addition ;) Her owner provides the feed, so it's costing me nothing but time, and hopefully she'll find a nice home this year. Christmas Day carrots with Mr Minx:

Will let you off with the 1/2 horse :D.

Well, it can be a cow, but it can also be one of these:

and since the Highland its been crossed with appears to be grey, as is the youngster, you might well end up with a small white version of the above, which would be pretty stunning.

She's a bit of a sweetheart - a little aggressive with other animals around food at the moment (fine with me giving her a scratch while she's eating), a couple of sheep have had narrow escapes from feet and teeth, but she's getting better now that it's coming regularly. She's a 13-y-o ID x Selle Francais, evented as youngster, but hasn't really done a lot with her current owner, so very low miles. She's too big for me, I tend to get nosebleeds over 15hh ;) and she's 16.2hh I think. She's been out on loan a couple of times, but has come back - the problem is that she's a lovely quiet hack when she's being brought back into work, but as soon as she's properly fit if she senses she's got an inexperienced or not very confident rider, she can tank off with people. This is her on the beach last summer (not me on board!)
