  • Twelve to go today and one of them was into three figures, so at least I had some cash to bank this morning. It's been quite a busy proofreading day. I have another four files to get on with first thing tomorrow plus one more to type up, so don't expect scores on the doors before the afternoon! I did get this in the post today though: http://instagram.com/p/wwfVF3DwVo/ - so it seems my work this year has been appreciated :D

I do have a good excuse, honestly - six hour power cut!! I'll try and get them done tomorrow. Just finished the proofreading and transcription for the day and all the orders that aren't packed are at least printed off with address labels printed too, so I can do them quickly in the morning even if the power goes again.

Totally unacceptable. Get a generator :D.

Mr Minx got given one as a leaving present from his old job before we moved up here - however, it is not yet hooked up to the house's electrics :p

Well, today we braved the pandemonium that is the big Tesco in Wick on the last Saturday afternoon before Christmas.

:p:p There are many things I do not miss about Croydon, and the Sainsbury's on Purley Way is fairly near the top of the list!

I still haven't done my scores on the doors (hangs head in shame) - just take about £50 off last week's figures and you're about there, it's been a pretty rubbish week!

Don't know if I mentioned it here (I've just looked back quickly and can't see it), but Merlin managed to trash his Wetherbeeta rug last week - took off both leg straps and broke a surcingle clip. I found him standing in his field shelter with it hanging off his neck with a vaguely sheepish 'Ooops' expression. So I bagged it up and dropped it off at the tack shop for collection by our local(ish) rug miracle worker. Good news, she's only charged me £10 to repair it. Bad news, she sent it back to the shop on the feed van yesterday and when I called in today to pick it up, they couldn't find it. After a few messages between me and a friend who works there but wasn't in today, she says it's probably still on the van as she'd locked up before it was back and they just didn't see it when they checked. She's going to have a look on Monday when she's in and will bring it back over here for me (she lives in the next village).
  • Secondly I had the quarterly interest bill through from RBS for the business account. In the three months to June this year I paid £119.67 in interest. In the three months to September, I've paid £75.64 :D:D Onwards and downwards!

The quarterly interest bill has landed - £62.24 :D
  • Tesco looks awful! To be fair ours isn't too bad a the moment, it's worse during the summer season when the holiday makers are around.

Hope the rug is found for you.

Good news on the interest, definitely going down.

Today wasn't going brilliantly. eBay sales were virtually nil and then I managed to leave the one special delivery I had to go on my desk while I drove the mail sacks to the post office, so had to turn straight back round and repeat the trip.

Then, mid-afternoon, I logged into my NatWest account to catch up with my personal accounts and found someone had deposited £500 in there today with the reference 'BONUS' surprised.jpg No other details, NatWest doesn't tend to show full details until the following day. So I emailed the HR manager at the transcription company to see if it was anything to do with them and got a reply that said, 'Merry Christmas, with all our thanks! Enjoy! xx'

Okay, so it's going to get spent on 40 bales of hay and 500 litres of heating oil (I have to put aside £100 for tax, but as far as I can work out - and I've emailed my accountant to check - I don't have to pay VAT on it, it's treated as a gratuity and not consideration for work done), but that's just made January a lot easier.

Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the car isn't too expensive when it goes back to the garage tomorrow!
