you can get it £30 cheaper than on google play for the 16gb version. i posted this earlier on a new thread on the mobiles part of this forum but looks like someone has deleted the thread or moved it elsewhere as i cant find it now!
anyway here is an external link on how to get the deal and get it for £179 for 16gb version from tesco using codes. plus see other useful videos for this device on https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL07BDA26279B1EAF6&feature=mh_lolz
codes confirmed working on HUKD and xda nexus 7 forum
update: looks like out fo stock at tesco now. but try the codes when stock comes back as it most certainly will be stocked again.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
I like the sound of this, but Im thinking that a 7" screen is too small, as a former Asus EEE PC owner. Also the Microsoft Surface is just around the corner and comes with a keyboard.0

Lets face it why does the 8GB of extra flash memory cost £40 on these?
Cost me around £12 so not the £40 premium it first appears.
Got mine from Currys - £189.95 + 4% Quidco.
The 8GB model direct from Google is £169.98 (delivery £9.99 remember)
Mine turned up a couple of days ago and it's superb - way better than my existing 7" Cyclone tablet (I need both a low end and high end device as I'm about to start developing games for them).0 -

Much as I like Android I'm not going to bother with this tablet.
I only use my Playbook for watching movies - and it has the best, loudest, wide stereo speakers suited for that purpose, plus I don't have to download an app to play any old avi or mkv file - and for reading ebooks. I don't even go online on it.
So the Nexus - good as the specs are at that price - would be wasted on me.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

It is a pretty sweet bit of kit.
Yes the box is a mission to open....:A:jLibertas Supra Omnia:j:A0 -
Why are people struggling with the box? Slide out, cut tape, open!
I had mine open and running before the delivery driver had got back into his van!0 -

The device is powerful enough to run android games and has a good quality display for media, however the high resolution means the full version of many websites is displayed with clear but VERY small text. This results in a great deal of zooming and scrolling to see each page in full. It is just like using a big phone. Facebook games, puzzles etc are also very hard to play as they were not designed for a touch interface
If you only use apps, watch films and are happy with the mobile version of your favourite websites this is a great little device but for surfing its more phone than computer and just too small.
I also found the brightness wavered in an annoying fashion when used in a darkened room and have now returned it for a refund.
I`m going to save up a bit more and look into Ultrabooks, maybe I can retire my netbook then.

I've now been using my Nexus 7 for a few weeks and totally love it! OK so it's not an iPad, the iPad3 has a better spec and more features - but it is more expensive! So as we're all about Money Saving the big question is whether we can get away with paying less? Why pay £400 or more when £160 could do?
Here are my thoughts:- Camera: iPad3 has the best tablet camera. Fact. The N7 doesn't even have a rear facing camera (just a basic front facing one for Skype etc) so there really is no competition. However I use a "real" camera to take photos, my camera is a million times better than the iPad3. I also think tablet holding photographers look ridiculous, but each to their own
.
- Apps: The Apple apps are more mature, Android is playing catch up and suffers from the huge range of devices. So again, Apple looks on top? But I use my N7 to surf the web (it comes with Chrome which is fantastic), I use it for twitter (there are loads of twitter apps, they all seem similar to me), I listen to the radio (TuneIn has every station ever), I read books (Kindle for Android), I blog (WordPress for Android), keep up to date (Pulse, BBC news app). That's about it. All my apps are free (or paid for with the free credit that comes with the Nexus).
- Storage: Not really a problem for me, I stream content or use DropBox. But you can't put an SD card in an iPad either
!
- Connectivity: The Nexus 7 has no 3G, the 3G iPad is pretty pricey, and then you have to buy another data plan, or sign up to an expensive plan that allows tethering. I mostly use my tablet around the house and commuting, so on the train I make use of Pulse's offline news reading capabilities, read ebooks, or stored movie content, Google maps now works offline and it does have GPS. There are lots of free wifi hotspots around London, now available at Tube stations, but I've not really felt the need to use one. I don't need 3G, but you might...
- Size: Some people say that the 7" form factor goes against the Nexus, but for me it is an advantage. This one really seems down to personal taste and how you use your tablet. I love how my tablet slips into my bag, I love how it is easy to hold, and I love how I don't look like a plank when I use my actual camera to take photos
!
Much of this stuff is subjective and I have read some great pieces from people who really do need the extra functionality of the iPad. I can't argue with that and believe it's down to individual choice.
I only wanted my tablet to "sofa surf" or to watch movies / read books on the go. I have a desktop computer for professional work and use two large monitors that no tablet is going to replace!! Your situation may be different. For something that is just for fun, I couldn't justify spending hundreds and hundreds, which is why I held off from buying for so long. But now the price seems right.
The question to ask is, do you want an iPad, or do you need an iPad. Now that's the MSE way!
btw, a few of us are chatting tablet stuff over at a dedicated UK Nexus 7 forum. Apologies for the plug, I hope it's allowed to stand (I've been told off in the past for posting links and never quite sure what I can link to and can't).you can apparently install Flash and it works aOK if not through the play store through the .apk from adobe.
Yes, I've done this following these instructions. It worked fine and I've got iPlayer working on my N7!
