    They've done the right thing. Despite what the apple biased press has been bleating about Google aren't taking on the iPad with this. More like taking on amazon. I think this is more aimed at user based for their services like books, movies, music, etc.

    You can pre-order it now direct from Google in the Play store. £160 for the 8GB and £200 for the 16GB model. If you were waiting for the Amazon Fire, don't bother, this is way ahead of it.

    I guess Google have done their research and found that few really care about a memory slot.

    It's not something that would bother me, either, so I'm going for the 8Gb one. I found that on my Playbook (soon to be got rid of) I seldom used more than about 3Gbs.

    Cost price or not they could go the amazon route and sell them at a loss if they think the user base after the sale is going to be profitable enough.
