It's been a long time since I used the password reset disk so can you detail the steps you take up until the point where it appears to hang. A photo of the screen may also help. How do I add a signature?0

Refer to post #26- Create a new admin account for yourself.
- Log in with new account
- Delete all other user accounts (and their respective files)
- Check/update/install anti-virus software.
- Uninstall any unwanted Programs etc
- Use Windows Update to get OS up to date
- Look through the Programs menu for an option to create a system recovery disc (Typically found in Start > All Programs > Accessories > Maintenance)

or you could do as closed suggests in post #38 which is a cleaner (but potentially lengthier) route to the same result.
- Factory reset
- Anti-virus install/update (you may need to uninstall factory installed trial)
- Windows Update
- Uninstall other trial/unwanted programs
