Fab news about the sofa though.
Hope your week-end is good xxx

Well, busy weekend. OH and friends pulled up the hedge in the front/side garden and put in large 6ft fence panels instead. They are doing the gates at the weekend, once these are up, the whole garden will be enclosed into the back (although there is a falling down garage and wall in the way - this is coming down in a few weeks) all in all, it will make the garden twice the size (its currently tiny!)
I nearly cried taking out the emergency money to pay for it though. Its taken so long to get it there. So we are going to sell the Hyundai. After a long chat over the weekend, we agreed that Neil can buy another car for £1000. The sale of the Hyundai should realise £1500 - £2k (if lucky) and will replace what we have taken out of the emergency fund.
I will not be without an emergency fund. I will not allow ourselves to be stung again.
Have spokent o my father who is going to lend us the £1k to start with, to buy Neil a car, When the other is sold, we can pay him back straight away and put the balance back in the fund.
Kind of in two minds about this though. The hyundai is only 5 yrs old, 27k miles and is reliable and cheap(ish) to run. Neil works miles away so needs a decent car to get there and back. However, Neils cousin has said he will keep an eye out for a decent replacement (ie, one that will last years!) so at least we will get something good - Neil and I wouldn't know what to look for in a car, even if it bit our noses!
Also trying to potty train. ARGHH!! The elder 2 were great at this. Emily doesn't care. But it has to be done sooner rather than later. We will be re-decorating in a few weeks before the free Tesco/MFI sofa arrives. We have a fantastic wooden flooring underneath the carpet, so we will just re-varnish that, paint the walls and with a new sofa, its going to look great - and really really cheap!! Painting will be Magnolia and Mum has loads left over from re-painting her flats so thats free. Free floor, free sofa, free paint. I am lucky - I suppose it makes up for the bad luck with the car!
Lastly (promise!) 1st Credit have sent their 5th refusal letter for our offer! We have been to-ing and fro-ing since mid March and I will not telephone them. Another letter today methinks!
And Abbey Data protection officer replied to our request! 1st stage in claiming back the charges and they have stated they will send the info under seperate cover! Albeit microfiche type copies. Not a problem - I do not mind a bit of work to get my money back!0 -
Great! In a rush now!!!
MFI called - my sofa thats due 8th June is due in their warehouse any day now!!!!! So they want to bring the delivery forward by weeks!!!!
I have barely started on the mass declutter! And I have an OU essay due in 2 weeks and potty training. Thank goodness that Ruby is sleeping through most of the night now and I am no longer working!!!
I NEED TIME!!!!0 -
Good luck, I'm sure you can manage it - when it all gets a bit pants just envisage yourself chilling on your lovely new sofa with a cuppa when all the work is done (am feeling your pain on the essay, I'm trying to get three written this week to get them out of the way, along with a load of other work  )2007 Bronze Olympic Challenge: Total £1057.34 :jDFW Nerd 269: Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

Well, heard from EGG today about the charges!
I need to send some ID in to verify who I am, just in case I am cloning myself at the same address I suppose!
I will not be lead though - they tell me that the 40 days starts AFTER I have sent the ID in, oh no it doesn't! My reply with ID will state that!
Also collecting the Sun tokens for holidays! I hope that I get something. Not impressed that we have to pay £15 for the baby though, but for us all to go away again for a long weekend, its total is cheap enough. If OH cannot come on a date we are offered then I will take my Mum or perhaps SIL. (If I get offered a date that is!)
And Baby is sleeping through the night now (almost!) All week she has slept to 6am from 9 or 10pm with the exception of last night when she woke briefly at 4.30am. She is 7 weeks tomorrow, so I am really lucky with this!0 -
Good luck with the sun holiday.
Well done baby.... (Ruby isn't it??)

Help!
If I am seen here today, yell at me to bu88er off! I have loads and loads of studying to do for an essay to write this weekend. I don't have time to read/post/comment. In fact lunch and toilet breaks are out too!
On the plus side, I have another letter - 4 out of 14 creditors now have set up payment plans! The other 10 obviously don't want my money.
The exception of Littlewoods. Have had 6 nasty letter this week alone from them and am fed up now. So instead of replying with my offer again, I have replied demanding my CCA - which I know doesn't exist! Nice people are treated nicely. Mean ones are told to get lost.
Oh - and BCA group (Owe Abbey). Sent a letter as I had not returned the standing order form. They have demanded the standing order form or they will take me to court! So a polite letter telling them that they would be laughed out of court and I would like to see them try has been posted with a confirmation that the SO has been set up and I am not returning the form as there is no way I am providing my bank account details to them.
I had to write back last week as they demanded payment on the 24th each month. I told them it would start 1st May and if they were not happy, take me to court for CCJ. FACE, BOTHERED NOT!!!!!
I really do feel so much happier dealing with all my creditors in writing. WHen this all first started, (04/05) I was in a rush to get things out of the way and phoned all the time. This meant they had my number and phoned back! Hassle, hassle, hassle. A phone number change was the best thing I ever did! That and a relaxed attitude to it all. I am still a control freak and want to know everything right now, but I also have the attitude of "what can they really do?" I am only concerned now about the legal side of things rather than the DCA's rubbish they spout.
Help and support from here has been great over the years!
Altogether now - MSE RULES! MSE RULES! MSE RULES!
PS - don't forget - I am not allowed here today!0 -
Hi Charlotte!
Good news about Ruby doing so well and the progress with your creditors. You sound really upbeat and organised. Hope you get the dates you are wanting for your Sun holiday, a break will do you good.
Now GO and get some work done and don't let me catch you on here again until you've finished young lady"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Morning everyone!!
Didn't get as much reading done yesterday as I wanted to, but still got lots done!
Ruby didn't sleep through last night - which threw me completely! Only a short while awake, so not too much of a problem.
Debts this morning!
Another creditor has accepted our offer - thats 5 out of 14 now. But, I recieved three demands for payment from different companies for the same debt today! And a payment plan has actually been set up with one of them! Looking at previous letters, Wescot passed a Halifax debt to Blairs who passed it back to Wescot who then passed it on to Credit Security with whom I have set up a payment plan. All three companies wrote to me today so more letters going out! I am keeping Royal Mail afloat with the purchase of stamps lately I think!
Sent off my first F&F offer this morning. Taken the smallest debt and offered 40%. Lets see what they say. It is only £30ish I have offered but every little helps!0
