    Its not my Week.

    Argh!!!!

Got out my Tesco/Deals/MFI tokens today. I have £975 in deals tokens and I want a red leather sofa. The one I want was £999 YESTERDAY! Today online, its £1250!!!!

Online, there is a new section of SOFA OFFERS and the one I want is on special (I assume its going to be discontinued) for £599 but only if I call and pay debit card (cash) - I Don't have £599 in the bank so I cannot do this! Argh!!!!

So. My theory is, I am going to MFI anyway today (as originally planned) and will threaten the sales assistant. I will tell him I want what I want at the price I want, or I will leave all my screaming kids in his care for the day :rotfl:

    Think it will work??

I hope it does! Good luck. :D

A lot of shops will drop prices a bit if you haggle, but I'm always too shy/nervous/pathetic to do it.

I too am to shy/embarassed to ask for more discounts than I am already getting!

But the good news was that they had the sofa in the shop marked up at £900 - the computer said £1250 and he tried to argue that £1250 was the correct price. Silly man. I wont ask for extra discounts, but will fight my corner (wierd lass I am!) so in the end I paid the marked up price, plus free delivery plus got a nice picture artwork they have on display and sell.

I spent £5 cash in MFI!

We did discuss the online offers and he confirmed with his manager that it was not an in-store offer. Ah well.

So - new sofa due 8th June and it gives me enough time to have a massive de-clutter and repaint the walls!

Hurray, well done for getting it for £900!!

We've bought furniture from MFI before now, and their website does seem to operate completely separately from the store. We bought a bed from them at Xmas, and tried to tell us that the price we had seen on the internet (which was much cheaper) was wrong, and we should just order it in store. We ignored them, went home, ordered it over the internet and saved a fortune.

Your DS would get on well my my DD who is 5. She loves The Doctor, but prefers the Cybermen.

It's a bit wierd - she takes her cyberman doll to her ballet class. The other Mums are a bit (to put it politely) stuck up and do snigger, but the other girls and esp the boys fight over who is going to hold it!

I had a letter from Abbey today.

I had an ISA with them and decided to close it, so wrote to them last week asking them to do this.

The letter today told me that I cannot close the account until I fill in a form requesting the money in there. 1p!!! Thats it. Just 1p! :rotfl:

If they are making me go through this red tape, I am bloomin well making sure I get my cheque for 1p!!! I owe them £6k in total. Might ask them to deduct it from what I owe! :rotfl:

Then also recieved a letter from the OU about my DES212 course. There is a day school - either the 5th May or 12th May, in Oxford or Southampton (I live in Slough so some distance away!) And I am really umming/arrghing about going. Its a long way, and baby is still small (6 weeks today!!) I have never left any of them for that long when they were that small. Both days are 10-4pm and will take at least an hour and half travel each way, but it would be beneficial to my studies with "hands on experience". Its also petrol there and back.

Will have to discuss it with Neil when he gets home and his suggestions.
