Well my idiot husband was paid and the stupid stupid idiot forgot to put in the overtime from going to Europe at the End of Feb - AGAIN. His boss now says its too late - missed two wage packets as its company policy (to avoid fraud on overtime claimed months later etc).

So we are £500 down this month on the usual average month due to no overtime last month and 2 weeks paternity. Really lucky I managed to put £200 by last month to help cover this month, but finding £300?? Oh yes - I'll pick it from that tree in the garden.

I can understand his bosses position, but its a small company and he KNOWS OH was in Europe. We are only talking about 12 hours here - not thousands of pounds (about £100 after tax really). Compromise?? Why can't men do that????

Bang go my new glasses I really need this month. Ah well. He has a job at least I suppose (or by typing that, am I tempting fate??????!!!!)

Well, I had my eyes tested anyway and do not need new glasses! Getting contacts instead (opps....) but the first 2 months will be a free trial period! (Whey-hey!)

Also recieved a letter today about a free haircut (from my free Prima magazines I sent off for last month!) and a free manicure needs to be booked from the flowers for MIL from Tesco for Mothers Day!

Several creditors have accepted instantly our offers of payment (Really big Whey-hey!) but one is being stupid. And another letter today about Hyundai Car Finance and the CCJ - have posted seperately about that as I am not completely sure what it means.

Baby is doing well, kids are not sick now and spent lots in Tesco yesterday. I know - we are money down this month, but I and the kids need new clothes (all my pre-baby stuff is far too big) and I have money off vouchers and its 20% off weekend, so I had £100 worth of clothes and paid just under £50 in the end - but DD2 and 3 have enough to last them through Summer now (with the exception of some shorts) and I have enough until dropping another dress size.

have a look at www.glassesdirect.co.uk/ if you have the prescription you could get a new pair of glasses for 30 quid from here. if you sign up for the mailing list you get another 10% off - there is another similar site for contacts I think if you must have them.

You are right with Glasses Direct - I have used them before (and via Quidco!!) but the contacts I will have to get from Specsavers for a few months as the price includes the check ups as well ( and I will have to have 2 in the first month, one the month after etc) and specsavers all in one deal makes them more cost effective for the first 6 months. But have never checked out Glasses Direct for contacts, so thanks for that!!!

What is it with people?? Some ignorant piece of dirt tried to break into and steal the car yesterday afternoon - off our driveway!

£150 excess this is going to cost me. And its the 2nd claim in 2 years that was not my fault either! (2005 some scum crashed into it and sped off when it was parked). I keep my no-claims bonus, but as its the 2nd claim in as many years, I lose the no-claims protection. If I have another claim next year then I lose 2years off that no-claims.

Luckily the immobilser kicked in so the scum didn't get anywhere - which is just as well, as the car is full of car seats and the double buggy, which I couldn't afford to replace too.

So I have to find £150. That tree in the garden it looking bare.

Rant over. Bright side - at least no-one was hurt.

Anyway - DFW stuff now! Thats 3 creditors that have accepted our offers of payment! 1st Credit are still playing silly !!!!!!s and after 4 letter to them (and back!) in as many weeks, they are insiting that I phone them. So I have written again stating that I am not in a postion to call them and that I want all correspondence in writing only.

But its the fact that the majority have not even been bothered to acknowledge our offers but are still writing threats and stuff. (Which I ignore cos I know its all hot air).

    C'est la vie.

Hi Charlotte, sorry to hear about your car - what a pain! We've had a similar thing recently. I've been driving for about 15 years, and have only ever had one very small bump, and yet somehow I only have 2 years no claims, because every time I build up a decent amount of no claims, someone drives into my car and then drives off (hello drunken neighbour across the road, you KNOW who you are...I just can't prove it.... grrrrrr), or decides to attack it with a pot plant in the middle of the night.

You are doing really well though, some of your creditors have accepted your offer, and that's really good progress.

Hey, MY hubby thinks we have one of those trees in the garden too! I'm slowly getting him trained though ;)

    Thanks Snaggles -

OH insurance is even worse though! He has 6 (!!) on his details in the last 4 years. Only one was his fault (Sort of, he went into the side of a lorry on a roundabout last year trying to avoid a woman on a mobile who pulled infront of him and oblivious to what she had caused!)

Its not fair - we are safe (as you can be) drivers and have this ridiculous amount of claims on our insurances through no fault of our own.

I hate that not at fault claims - even when you get the money back completely go against you and you still have to notify insurers.

Never mind. There are worse things that can happen. Its only money.........

Hi charlotte! this is the first time I've bumped into your diary and I love it so far! You don't have much luck though do you? Glad you're all feeling better and re: the car.. would it work out cheaper to have it fixed yourself instead of claiming on the insurance?

Oh and Snaggles... your car was attacked by a pot plant????

Errrrm....I guess someone had hold of the plant (a potted plant, not a 'pot' plant if you see what I mean lol) at the time.... :rotfl:

We came downstairs (on New Years Day last year), and found the window smashed and the bonnet covered in dents and scratches, with soil and mangled roots everywhere, and half a lavendula on the passenger seat.

I wonder if those policies where you can protect your no-claims are worth it - I might have to look into that.
