  • Ah yes, the selfish ignorant moron, the thug (often female though you may have to look hard to be sure, usually confirmed once heard) who steals a parking space....likely to be the same ill mannered type who accelerate should someone have the ordacity to overtake them, in order to try and smash the 'offender' into oncoming traffic.

You have to beat them by stealth, when a parking space appears, you cover the space with your car until there is no moron close enough to steal the space from you, similarly in order to overtake said moron you have to do it by stealth, using the slingshot method.

Vehicle interference? Are you serious? There has to be intent for theft of the motor vehicle or trailer or part of the vehicle, or theft of anything carried in or on the vehicle or trailer, or an offence of taking without consent for it to be vehicle interference.
theft of the air inside of the tyres?

This kind of situation is best avoided with what I call the 45 degree parking method.

Standard method that many people use is to stop perpendicular to the intended space, on the opposite side of the lane, then steer to full lock and reverse through a 90 degree bend into the space. Basically the same approach you'd use to reversing around a corner on your driving test.

This is slow, inefficient, harder to line up, and leads to douchebags driving in forwards and stealing your space while you wait for pedestrians to get out of the way.

Instead, stop perpendicular to the space on the same side as the intended space, drivers door level with one side of the space and rear bumper level with roughly the middle of the space (spacing needs adjusting depending on your car), if necessary wait for pedestrians and other people to clear out of the way.

Then do full lock away from the space, drive forwards through a 45 degree turn, stick it in reverse, full lock in the opposite direction and reverse the remaining 45 degrees.

It's faster, easier to line up and the only type of vehicle that can steal your space would be a motorbike who is idiotic enough to try and shuffle themselves into a tiny gap behind a reversing vehicle.

If the driver has any sense he will ask to see the CCTV footage. If the culprit then got into his own car, that registration will have been captured so no problem finding out who did it.

If people didn't drop matchsticks, they wouldn't be available to criminals to put in valves. That's who I blame!

I love the "I'll wait until they've gone...." mentality here. Where would we be if we'd had that attitude when Germany invaded Poland? (Godwin).
If we'd just waited until Hitler was looking the other way and let his tyres down then France need not have worried.
    Can I help?

Unless you need access to the boot, driving in forwards is inefficient as you put the end of the car that is most able to move freely and then restrict it's movement while the end of the car that you can't control so much has much more freedom to move.

Sorry OP but there is no justifiacation to what you have done.

Also poorer visibility when reversing out (ok same problem when going in but going out backwards is probably more dangerous) and less fuel efficient - when reversing in you do your manoeuvring when the car has warmed up.

In answer to the question I was also going to say 'interfering with a vehicle.' If said 'flash git' has such a flash car it'll (hopefully) have TPMS to warn him before driving off. Or it may have runflats. :p

    Ridiculous behaviour IMO.
