Voluntary contribution towards school trips

Yet you've only picked up the bits you want to read. My first post stated that I could sympathise if the trip was expensive. I'm not the one who looked through your other posts but yes it does frustrate me when someone comes making themselves be a victim to then find out they actually had choices. I suggested you told the teacher you could pay late due to the bank fiasco but you've said it happened twice before and clearly you don't seen interested in this option. As said before my dd did have a school trip cancelled because of not enough parents contributing and that is a school in the most influent part of the town!0

What are they charging though, we had one a few weeks ago which was £6 per child to a free (for schools) attraction but they had to use a coach and the cost of coach hire for a day isn't that cheap.0

FWIW we cancelled our school trip last week.
Too many parents with their Iphones and consoles and tablets and new games and term time holidays abroad couldn't afford the voluntary contribution to pay for the educational (not fun day) trip.
The last trip we had was only 60% paid for, we went ahead at a loss as deposits had been paid to providers - this trip had 40% paid for.
The parents of the 40% who paid are not impressed and of the remaining 60% who hadn't paid, about 50% moaned that the trip has been cancelled as their kids were looking forward to it. The remaining 10% gave the money to school the day after the trip was cancelled in the hope we'd change the decision.
4 weeks + half term holiday time frame as well.
So many more parents are wrongly taking advantage of the word voluntary, as they can. If parents can't afford, I get that and school is more than happy to help, but when you are taking advantage of the word voluntary whilst typing on your iphone, that's when I struggle.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I actually spent a lot of time on the DLP thread when were saving up to go and you were quite a frequent poster on there! I have got far better things to do than trawl your posts.
EDUCATIONAL VISITS are one thing; SCHOOL TRIPS are another which is why I compared them to a visit to the cinema. They are a treat and students would not suffer educationally from not going. We actually took a group of students on a REWARDS trip to Alton Towers. Four girls who were not allowed to go due to their behaviour were then taken out of school by their parents who felt it appropriate to take them to Alton Towers for the day (and I'd like to add that they were not the only ones who were not invited!). I was gobsmacked!!
P.S. I will admit to looking at your post about babygrows (which I don't think is unreasonable as most people have made reference to it) and am surprised that your baby is going to be naked as you apparently have a young daughter. Do you not have any of her clothes that could be recycled. My youngest daughter had two of every outfit, having got older twin sisters!!0 -
I'm becoming bored by your attitude to this. It seems you have a history of trying to play the system including hiding money so your mother can commit benefit fraud with your help - forget you posted that? Or the fact that you've just bought a new car?
You lack morals. Pay up. Don't expect everyone else to do it for you as you so clearly expect.
Lol I am not justifying myself to you. Would you like to tell everyone how I afford to buy a new car then? No I expect you'll miss that part out just incase I get some sympathy and people stop bashing me like you are.
This thread has totally lost the plot and I have certainly learnt my lesson asking for advice on here.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

Also, you say the trip is tomorrow. I might have missed it, but how much notice did the school give you?
Today is our daughters first day back they told everyone else last week, we got the permission slip via my sister when we got home and sent it in. Then they called him in for the money after school so not much notice even if we hadn't been away.
The school trip is to a local tourist attraction is basically just a trail through the woods so it is purely educational. I have not seen the form as DH took her to school so I don't know how much it is but the point is we have nothing in the bank at all so even if it was only £1 we could not pay it tomorrow.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
It is to a free tourist attraction all of 7 miles away so they are way overcharging for the trip.
They also have to use LEA approved coaches.
Most of the time, transport is the largest element of the trip.Today is our daughters first day back they told everyone else last week, we got the permission slip via my sister when we got home and sent it in. You clearly only pick up on the bits you want to aswell as if not you would see he already explained to the teacher why we could not pay it and I said it happened once before.
Regardless of how expensive the trip is if there is no money there is no money. The trip hasn't been cancelled so clearly this is not a case of not enough parents paying!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

No I have nothing left from my 18 month old I sold it ALL as we wasn't planning on having another child and this is how I saved by selling everything we did not need. Another personal part of my life plastered on here to be torn apart.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

Or it could be that the school has already paid for your chid and several other children and it would cost more money to cancel than it would to go.
If immediate payment is the problem, then tell the teacher/head/whoever will listen that you have every intention of paying by x date or paying what you can by x date.
BTW: as you sold on all your baby stuff, you'll know what excellent quality stuff you can get hold of for less than chips at car boot sales.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
