Sorry to hear about your situation, wdiag - one of our neighbours blamed the cat mess, in his garden, on our cats, and would throw it over the fence.
Our cats would rather explode than go anywhere other than their tray, and the three 'garden cats' use a small corner of our garden.
There are many cats in the neighbourhood and they 'wander at will' as cats do, and the most likely 'culprit' was a 'skanky' old tom, that we are, forever, chasing away.
Despite having talked to him, on several occasions, he continued to throw the offending 'droppings' over into our garden, until, one day, he went 'just too far' and started 'smearing' it over my wife's car - even over the door handle.
One of the other neighbours witnessed him, and told my wife. My daughter rang the local community Police officer, who came and gave him a very strict, informal warning.
Nothing has happened since, but I do notice that his house is up for sale.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

4 March - My new Open University course started on Saturday, & I had my first tutorial this morning! I was dreading it, but it went very well - far better than I expected. I'm apparently on the right track with what I've done so far, so I'm pleased with that. I was a bit worried that the course is only a few days old, & some people have already read the first book & were well into the second, but she calmed me down & explained that the course timetable is what it is for a reason, so just because other people have read so far ahead already, it doesn't mean they've actually understood it or that they'll pass the course at the end. That made me feel a lot better - though I'm not easily intimidated, I was really worried when I thought I was falling behind.

Ages ago a friend suggested we go away for a few days, but we didn't do anything about it as I hadn't sorted out a new passport, I'd been ill etc. Anyway, the subject came up again at the weekend, but I can't see the trip happening. The time off work isn't the problem, but the difference in our budgets definitely is. She's got credit cards & has said she's not doing "making do" on holiday, whereas I don't have credit cards & " making do" is "will have to do" for me. :( It's only a few weeks 'til I'm off work, so I can't afford a £600 fancy hotel break in Venice or a similar place, & to be honest I don't particularly want to either. I'd just like a few days away somewhere I haven't been to before, with a couple of books for company. I don't need any clubs, tour guides etc, just some peace & quiet away from the usual traffic, with some decent weather so that I can be outside as much as possible. I've told my friend to let me know the dates she's available, but I won't be too bothered if she doesn't. We're great friends, but I think this is one time I need to be on my own. :)

5 March - Had a good evening last night, as a result of a totally accidental meeting. I was in the supermarket one evening last week, & a woman passed me that I thought I knew. It bugged me, & when I was waiting at the bus stop afterwards she came up & someone else said they recognised her too. It turns out she was known to neither of us, but she's appeared in a local magazine a couple of times, so we might have recognised her from that. Anyway, she & I got off the bus at the same stop, & we got talking. It turns out she's a DJ on the local radio station less than 5 minutes walk from my house! I told her that I sang & did poetry, & she invited me to be a guest on her show! I thought nothing would come of it, but we spoke yesterday, & I went there for a whole hour (it felt like only 5 minutes). It was great - though I'm used to recording studios, I'd never been in a radio station before, so all the equipment was a lot to take in, but I just parked my rear on a seat & let her do her thing. I was able to read 4 of my poems on air, & she's going to see if she can have a regular poetry spot & get me on it again. :j:j

Only when she asked me if I had a website did I realise I hadn't checked it was working properly. The link works OK, but the guestbook doesn't, so I'll have to see if I can sort that out asap. If there are any 1&1 Internet users out there, please let me know what I'm doing wrong. If I'm going to be getting airplay, the website is important now more than ever. :)

  • 6 March - Nosiness got the better of me this afternoon & I popped into a local building I've occasionally heard music coming out of, to find out what was going on there. I found out it's an audio hire company, with a recording studio just down the road! The man was really nice & took me to see the studio. It has a really credible history, & I couldn't stop drooling over the mixing desk, which was absolutely beautiful. As soon as I saw the facilities I thought it would be really expensive to use it, but they heard me sing, liked what they heard & the resident engineer said he'd really like to work with me, not just for me, so they'd cut me a good deal on the price. :j At £400 a day minimum, it's a lot less than I expected given what's there (I've seen others far more expensive with a lot less in them), & it's money I haven't got right now, but I really liked the feel of the place, so it's given me an incentive to work harder on my compositions & get in the studio once I can find the money to pay for it. :)
  • 11 March - I've had an absolutely wonderful offer of help with recording costs when I'm ready to record my music! I don't know if I'll take them up on it, but it's lovely that they've made the offer & they made me cry with gratitude. I thanked them profusely for the offer, & if they ever read this, thank you again. :)
