I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

7 August - I've managed to spend almost 2 years in this place without a working washing line in the garden, thanks to builders blocking my access with scaffolding for months then them managing to break the line & also remove it from the wall it was fixed to. Noticed the other day that someone nearby (she's in a top flat without garden access) has a pulley running from a concrete post to her bathroom window, & she feeds her washing out into the garden air-space that way. Clever woman.
Decided that was a "must have", so mum & I have spent two days hunting for pulleys (our parents had loads of these things, but hardly any hardware shops seem to stock them now
) & then spent this morning fitting the things. I've got a garden, but dragging in washing when it's started to rain isn't my idea of fun, so the pulley allowing me to bring them through the bathroom window will hopefully make things a bit easier. I've got some washing doing at the moment, so in a couple of hours I'll find out if the line holds - if it doesn't, my washing will be on the ground on top of a path that we sprayed weedkiller on this morning...
She made the point that I need a man to do these things for me. I replied that the last one I had couldn't have got this home for me, & his spending ways certainly didn't make it easy for me to keep the last home I had, so now I'll make do with brute force, a lot of praying & my common sense. If all else fails, one of my old tight-fitting bras should do the trick - my cousin calls them Niagara Falls, because everything spills over the top.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

O'er wdiag,
Niagra falls, that's spoilt my concentration for the afternoon.:o
You should let somebody who understands the relationship between back size and cup size measure you properly; I volunteer.:o0 -
Definition of cup size - if you can hold a cup as well, you didn't have enough in your hands in the first place.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

13 August - Had my hospital review today following my surgery. They're pleased with my progress, but not happy that I stopped taking some of my tablets weeks ago (it showed up on my blood tests). So I've got to go back on them as of today, & I'm going to have to suffer monthly blood tests for the foreseeable future to make sure I stick to it. The trouble is, one of them makes me very sleepy & the other makes me feel a bit sick, so I stopped taking them because I was feeling really well. I was told in no uncertain times that I risk my body rejecting the surgery if I didn't start taking them again, so I'm back on the things like a good girl.
I was in a mood about it because I know I should have been taking them, & I know how important they are, but I just wanted to enjoy not having my life being dictated by medications for a bit. Looks like my playtime is over now though, as the hospital checks will mean there's no chance it won't be spotted if I do it again - it's for my own good, so now I've had my bit of freedom I'd better go back to obeying the rules. At least seeing loads of post cheered me up when I got back home - all freebies. :j I've become the freebie queen since going BR - there's no point spending money on something that I can get for free. Today I got jelly beans, a laptop bag, some cables for my computer, some magazines on trial offer (must remember to cancel the subscriptions before they try to make me pay), my Nectar statement (loads of extra points this month), & some dvd trials. Oh, & an mp3 player that I got for placing an order for something costing 21p. Life's not all bad.

You have to tell us how you get these good freebies - See, I get freebies, but they're all not particularly useful eg, a trial packet of cat food (no cat - it goes to the local shelter), dog food (ditto), baby stuff (don't ask, but no, no baby/pregnancy), or tiny tiny sachets of shampoo (from mags). Nothing groovy like a laptop bag or pc cables. Anything cool seems to be number limited and I just miss out - any tips for freebie hunting?Do not feed the trolls please.0

If you keep an eye on the MSE freebie board here (sign up for the e-mail newsletter as well), you'll find some really good offers. The recent Ryanair one was brilliant - I'm going to Rome later this year for £4, & next year I'm off for a few days to Milan & Hamburg for 2p per person, including taxes. :jBSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
