My breakfast at the moment is:
Glass of orange juice
Oats, fruit (tinned mandarins, peaches with slices of apple, grape and banana added), topped off with plain HM yoghurt.
Finished off with a slice of HM 5 seed bread toasted and topped with a spoonful of marmalade.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

I've got friends coming round for breakfast on Friday, final day of hols before back to work. I can't go out as freezer being delivered so instead of our usual visit to our 'oh so trendy, oh so overpriced' continental cafe, I'm doing breakfast.
Usually I resort to M&S or Tesco pains au chocolat and croissants with lovely coffee, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas for something cheaper and tastier that I could actually make to eat. It's a longstanding joke that all I do to cook is take off the plastic packaging and it would give me a smug satisfaction if I could actually make something. However, it would have to be fairly easy to do, and fairly cheap.
Have looked through some cookery books but can really only find things suitable for lunch or chocolatey cake things which aren't really right for 10am! Don't want full English/tortilla/sausage sandwich type things - What can I do insead of expensive croissant or bagels?
Thought about cheese scones? Any ideas anyone? (v. grateful!)

How about toasted bagels with butter and selection of jams or even cook some crispy bacon and philidelphia cream cheese with bagels. Some danish pastries and fresh coffee. Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

I think the pancakes idea is fabulous! You could even make them before and put a sheet of greaseproof paper inbetween and either freeze them like that or fridge them if it just the day before. Then you don't need to get stressed that morning about making them and the freezer arriving, etc, etc... To reheat you can just put them in the oven for a couple of minutes, or reheat in the frying pan.
Have a lovely morning!

Drop scones - take about 2 or 3 mins to cook - served with fresh strawberries/raspberries if available - if not a bag of frozen summer fruit, defrosted - drizzled with maple syrup. Or scrambled egg, with a little cream and/or butter and fresh, crusty bread, toasted. Serve both with coffee/tea and orange juice.
As the above are so tasty and very easy to make once your visitors have arrived (you can make the drop scone batter before they arrive) why don't you be 'posh' - do a breakfast menu and offer them a choice?0
