Fried/grilled kippers will keep you full all day long.
Kedgeree served hot is good too.
Porridge made with full fat milk, sprinkled with a handful of walnuts, runny honey and banana.
Porridge laced with chocolate spread and nuts.
Porridge sprinkled with a handful of raspberries (fresh/fozen or tinned) runny honey and a small slug of Scotch whisky!
A lage cup of hot chocolate served cappucino style, with a hot croissant filled with apricot jam or chocolate.
Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - very filling!0 -
I though of lots of the same ideas, but one I didn't see is something my mum used to call pobs - slightly dry bread cut into cubes, covered with warm milk, cinnamon or mixed spice and dark brown or demarara sugar, real old-fashioned comfort food!July 2024 GC £0.00/£400

Looking for ideas for healthy breakfasts, that are quick to make and of course not expensive!
I love porridge, but only when its made with milk and with a spoonful of golden syrup on top which suddenly makes it not very healthy/high in calories!
I need to start eating good breakfasts ...0 -
1 egg, mug, microwave 30 seconds0

Beans on toast, wholemeal bread.
Wholegrain cereal0 -
Hi,
banana mashed on wholemeal toast, no butter or spread, wee sprinkle of cinnamon if you've got any.0 -
Eggs.
Boiled or scrambled, or fried or poached or whatever.
A poached or 'dry fried' egg on the crumpets I buy is well under two hundred calories and very filling.0 -
I have a banana milkshake with two scoops of protein powder for breakfast before work - takes about 30 seconds to prepare in the mini blender, and another 30 seconds to gulp down! Keeps me properly full until lunchtime. The protein powder isn't super cheap but it works out cheaper and better than being starving mid-morning and going to the cafe for a scone, which is what used to happen all the time0

I'm a porridge person too. I just use half a teaspoon of sugar, not too high in calories, I think.
Also, toast with tinned tomatoes. Cheap can, cook them a bit then put in Tupperware in fridge, use a bit everyday. I like to have them warm, so re-heat in the microwave.0 -

Could you put some fruit in with your porridge instead of the syrup? I've seen people put bananas in, or blue berries? Might give it some added sweetness0
