Yup - looked at few sites and it is quite pricey. None of them say anything about a dosage though so.... Will have to call them and ask.

Zara is 40kg again.... that cage rest did not do much good for her weight :(

The cheapest Efavet I have found so far is Animed Direct at £26.38 for 100 capsules of Efavet 660 (for large dogs).

At 4 capsules per day (1 per 10kg body weight) that will not last a month....

Will see if I can find it cheaper anywhere else - if not will order from AnimedDirect.

It has to be Efavet 660 - they also do other versions for cats and smaller dogs but with Zara's size it has got to be the Efavet 660...

I have said a couple of times before but if you are on a really tight budget I would really give the Flora a try! It does contain all the oils needed and is so much cheaper than efavet but will do the same job!

Im not just saying this, it was recommended to me by one of the best veterinary dermatologists in this country.
A teaspoon full on her food twice a day will help.
You could always ask your vet if you are worried about giving it to her, but its a much cheaper way of giving her the oils she needs for her coat.
I have a dog wih skin probs.
Good luck with her, hope she improves.

Hope your dog feels better soon, had to take Dolly back to the vets this week as her back was red & sore - vet said dogs that get skin allergies dont have bad skin they have a high immune system that overworks against any nasty things (this was handy to know), and she gave her some steroids (prednisolone) and suggested putting a little t-shirt on her to stop her rubbing her back on the carpet etc, she also has some cream that i can use in the future if i notice any bites etc, and ....... she actually confirmed that for dogs like Dolly flea treatment would make no difference as it doesnt stop the fleas biting and with a dog as sensitive as dolly once she's bitten the problems will flare up! She seems a lot happier in just 48 hours and isnt scratching when you stroke her back.
A home is not a home ..... without a dog

Dont think the flora would make her poo loose, best thing is to add a very small amount at a time and very slowly build up to the required amount.
Another thing I do is to give my dog a tin of sardines in oil now and then, they love it and its good for coats.

Dawnie - hope Dolly will get better soon. It is so frustrating when they are not well.

Hardupandfedup - Zara already eats sardines and slo gets salmon oil every day. This does not seem to help with her skin /coat.

Vet said her skin/coat are not really bad in general but he understod when I said that since Jan it just does not look right, not as it used to.

So wiill try the Efavet that I ordered and will see if there is any difference.

    Thanks again everyonf.

It could be that her coat has got worse due to her being a bit under the weather with her hips etc.
The efavet should work, it is good, but expensive!
