good luck & keep us posted.

If you do choose to use coconut oil on her in the future - use either organic (about £8 a pot, spreads like butter & smells yummy as it's `virgin' stuff) or cooking grade stuff (not the scented tiny tubs sold in Superdrug). The cooking stuff comes in plastic tubs & is about £2.50 for 500ml - I get mine in small asian independent food stores.

Don't bother with the tiny glass bottles some `ordinary' supermarkets sell it in - too expensive/fiddley.

I get mine from the dr's I have a spare tub if you want me to send it you getting xxxx

its not really greasy and it rubs in well. Also it isnt harmful if licked. In fact it works as well on the inside as it does on the outside x

I think you will be wasting time and money if you try putting oil or anything on her coat. If anything, she may need baths with prescription shampoo maybe.

Its more likely that the vet will want her to have some thing like efavet capsules which will give her all the oils she needs or they may sugest changing her diet.
As I said before flora is good for improving coat cond and cheap.

The lumps do look like subacious cysts to me but i may be wrong.
I would just wait and see what the vet says.

    Thanks for all the input....

Chris, thanks but could nto possibly ask you - Zara is well insured so whatever she needs will be covered.

Her hip op was around £5700 and she is insured for £7000.

I want the vet to do a skin test on her, to scrape and test and not guess what it may be as they sometimes do.

    Let's see tomorrow...

Good luck for tomorrow GR. Boots used to do coconut oil, we used to use it on the horses. I remember it being solid at room temperature though, so be careful with it - a little goes a long way. Also, my first springer used to love sunflower margarine; it had to go straight back in the fridge, otherwise she'd eat half a tub!
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

Ok seen the vet, VERY nice guy, clearly a skin expert.

Zara's are sebaceous cysts, from what I thought was a completely dry spot - he squeezed out so much yukky thing it was unbelievable.

He said not to touch them, would not give anything for them and said it is just one of those things - apparently GS are prone to them and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Skin - recommended few things saying the fish oil I give er is crap, not to use anything to runb onto her skin (furr and undercoat too thick).

Once I transcrive his handwirriting - will google what he recommended. Did ask me if I want if from them but said it is non prescrption and I can get it much cheaper online.

    So....all good - I think.

Thanks a lot everyone for all the support, very much appreciated

I used to use viacutin for my old collie girl - great stuff but not cheap!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
