And that will resolve the situation how exactly?
Glad you don't live next door to me!0 -

Very grown up response (not).
I just can't imagine what sort of relationship you have with your neighbours.0 -
I have apologised, handed over a garden pot with some begonias in it and hopefully no lasting hostilities. I think as I said before I was tired and frazzled and slightly taken aback. However, I have taken on board what some of you have said about the noise of hoovered floorboards! Dustpan and brush will be ready for Monday's clear up operation.
Well done. :T
Let's hope that will sort things out - and as you say, the work is almost finished anyway.0 -
Lost all respect for you when you implied that as they didn't have kids they had no right to be upset.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I am in the middle of quite big internal house rennovation. Various things done today. Got hoover out about an hour ago just to get the worst of the debris up. Neighbour has just called to say noise through the day acceptable - heavy banging etc. The sound of my hoover (a slight drone in the background on bare floorboards) whilst hoovering hall and stairs not acceptable.) I am in a mid-terraced house with my hall/stairs abutting her lounge.) !!!!!! it is only just gone 8 pm. I wouldn't normally hoover at this time of night. They are a couple in their 50s, no kids. She must be watching Eastenders!
Maybe I should hoover between 9.30 and 10.30 when she is on a day off and watching Jeremy Kyle.
Sorry, just had to get my emotions out!
You are not breaking any law as long as you do not make any noise after 11pm there is nothing she can do. If she doesn't like it she shouldn't be living in a downstairs flat as common sense tells you that you will hear upstairs hoovering, washing machine going off etc.
Just tell her to turn her tv up lolWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I think I have just over-reacted due to being overtired. I honestly wouldn't have thought my hoover just before 8.00 pm would have been a problem especially as they knew work was in progress. As I have said an invite when work completed with some nibbles and wine will put things back to 'normal'.
It's not a problem your neighbour had probably had a bad day and took it out on you.
When our neighbours was doing DIY they were drilling and hammering on the adjoining wall until 10pm and we had children in bed when I complained to their landlord we were told very rudely they can not control what their tenants do and as long as its before 11pm nothing I can do.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

I think you have taken what I said out of context. I admit I was tired and grumpy last night - not an excuse. My reference to my neighbours related more to the fact that they do not have young children who maybe would have been disturbed by my hoovering. They do in fact have a grown up family.
I certainly didn't describe them as a horrid couple as they don't have kids.
I am sorry you seem to have taken this personally.0
