Royal Mail "Damaged" birthday card - MISSING VOUCHERS - HELP!!

It's all very well and good to say that vouchers and money shouldn't be sent in the post but you should be able to trust the postal service enough to post anything and expect it to arrive at the other end safely.
Sorry to hear this OP, I have my fair share of problems with the local delivery office myself and it is frustrating. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
Yeah I agree that you should be able to trust the postal service but the fact is that for anything valuable you would want some form of reassurance it would get there and that is in the special delivery.
To be honest I think that the amount of letters/items that the postmen/women have to handle each day I think they do a pretty good job of it and do there best. Sometimes things slip through the system or there is an employee who is dishonest but thats life!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
I really feel for you. *hugs*
I have had soooo many problems with Royal Mail and so has my partner. I can't halp thinking that if we have so many problems with mail going "missing", then country wide this might be a phenomenally massive problem. Either that or our local area of royal mail branch is unlucky enough to be employing thieves
It was my birthday last week and a card containing a cheque sent from my mum never arrived so she had to stop it and send anotherI've had cards arrived opened to. And obviously opened by hand, not ripped or damaged
I've had recorded mail dissapear and not be tracked so it was pointless me paying for recorded mail in the first place. It then turns out it did arrive afterall and no signature was obtained.
It's also such a huge coincidence to that all the mail that arrives "accidently" opened here is always mail that is in envelopes that obviously contain a card of some descriptionNo one ever "accidently" opens or loses my council tax bill
I wasn't going to report my missing birthday card because the most RM seem to do is refund the postage. (woopdedoo) But just read what Becles said. I think I should report it. It didn't have to travel very far. RM might be able to track down where/who the thieving lowlife who took my card is.**********************************************************************

this morning 2 of ds's birthday cards turned up in plastic bags because they had been "accidentally damaged" luckily nothing was missing, because there wasn't anything in them to go missing but even so it's worrying.
We have had loads of post go missing lately, things seem to have got much worse since the new large letter charges etc came in.0 -

Please do report things.
On the other side of the coin, hubby gets abuse from customers who think he is a theif, which isn't fair on him as it's not him who is taking stuff from cards. If he does find an opened mail item among the stuff he is sorting for his delivery, he gets the manager to make a note that the envelope arrived at the sorting office open, so it he is covered if a complaint is made.
Hubby and other good posties are keen for all the theives to be found out and sacked from RM, as it's a minority who is giving them all a bad name. You can help by reporting everything that arrives open or missing items, and hopefully they will be able to find the theives and deal with them. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Couldnt agree with you more, too many people are keen to tarnish everyone with same brush0 -
Or you could do what I've just done about their total lack of regard to the people who pay the wages:the customer, and that's fire off an e.mail to the CEO,who is former FA man,Adam Crozier:
adam.crozier@royalmail.com
Let me know how you get on.
Oh.And do ask for a personal reply from him,not some div beneath him.

Presumably you have evidence that the item was opened by an individual? Contrary to popular belief, items do get torn open when being processed, due to the way the machines work. If it gets found, it gets placed in one of the clear plastic apology bags, along with the note on the front of it, which isn't an admission of guilt (or its not a statement that someone has stolen it, as Lorian has implied).0

i suppose it would be wrong to 'contaminate' a £10 note, seal it in a plastic bag and put that inside a birthday card to post. If its sealed in a bag the only way someone could 'accidentally' become exposed to the contaminant would be if they 'accidentally' opened the letter, saw the £10 note and 'accidentally' opened up the plastic bag too!! Eventually a scumbag thief would get their just desserts.0

Morning all... Sorry its took so long - I have a feeling its going to take much longer!!
Gave them a call and as Dafne said they said that the bag was not an admission of guilt.. this has been done by a machine..
They are sending a claim form out - not sure how they sent it as it has taken 8 working days thus far!!
They would not commit either way on the phone but I have a funny feeling it will all come down to the way the letter was posted - ie not recorded/special...
Anyway - let the Aunt know which was the worst - didnt want her to feel robbed but also didn't want her to send anymore!
Just a quick note re Royal Mail though - I do think the majority are superb - I run a small Ebay business and have only had two things go missing (and one of them was located in the Seychelles) in over 2 years of trading... I would never tar all posties with the same brush as I know most are up early doing a fabulous job!
Thanks for all your advice (and sympathies) - I had a wonderful birthday anyway!!!0
