over christmas, I've handled thousands of cards - many of which appear opened - and the reason? well, either they were never stuck down in the first place (as in, the flap has been lovingly tucked into the back of the envelope by granny), or a bit of spit to seal the really weak glue on cheap envelopes has failed (many a time as I've put mail into my frame, the card in there already has been 'opened' when it's been caught on the next one being placed in the frame). Now, if you are sending cards my tip would be make sure the flap is properly stuck down along the entire length. Next, if you are sending money (which I strongly do not advise) or gift vouchers, send it via Special Delivery as you will then benefit from the insurance if the item does go missing or is tampered with. Lastly, don't automatically assume it's the postie that is delivering the item to your door who is light fingered, the number of items I've delivered which are in these plastic bags well before they've got to my delivery frame is unbelievable.
I will be honest and say that yes, there are a minority group of tea leafs in the company, especially around this time of year when many people are employed last minute, however they do not make up the majority of the staff.
I do not claim Royal Mail to be great or nearly perfect, however, truthfully, is there any company or individual in this world who can claim to be so? point me in the direction of them please0 -
I once had my passport arrive ripped open and half hanging out of the envelope in one of those clear plastic bags, I think that was genuinely done by a machine though from the mangled look of it, but was really lucky it hadn't fallen out altogether. But after the amount of cards that have never arrived or come ripped open along the top with the money mysteriously gone I've learnt to either do a direct bank transfer, send a cheque or to send cards in a couple of pieces of folded a4 paper in a plain brown envelope so it feels like just another boring bill. When you're passing easy money through unscrupulous people's hands and it's so hard to track them down, it seems silly to do otherwise. What a shame when it's such a small minorityD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0
