  • Oh wow, I definitely need this! Like you say I always get to December and think 'hmm, I should have done some of this in advance'. I'm going to have a glass of vino tonight and write myself a big long Christmas to-do list. Pinterest, here I come!

Don't think I'm ready to listen to Slade yet though. :rotfl:

    I love Christmas too:snow_grin
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

How odd, I was just recently thinking about how to budget for Christmas present-buying, and the fact that every year I struggle to afford it all. And I don't even have that many people to buy for!

I'm going to make a start soon, I think.

Part of me is a bit bah-humbug, wondering why we all put ourselves through this every year, - buying people stuff when they don't really need (or maybe even want) anything. But I think doing a scrooge and saying I won't be buying or receiving gifts this year wouldn't go down too well. And anyway, I do like buying presents, - just not the stress of trying to afford them!

I do like the sound of this, the nights are drawing in now anyway :D I love autumn and winter :D

I've started buying presents in as much as I have quite a few Birthdays around the time that I would normally buy Christmas presents anyway. So its as if I have to buy two lots of presents for the same person IYSWIM

I've also been saving the £1 saving stamps at the Co-op, Sainsurys and Tesco's. This is not so much for Christmas food but to use in the run up to Christmas, maybe even on normal shopping so that I then have the cash which I would have used ;)
  • Give it a rest, I still have one more serving of last years Christmas pudding to dish up.

And when that has gone, it will be nearly time for this years to seep and mature.

Have to admit I am thinking of writing my Chistmas cards soon

There is method in my madness.... boxes of cards were bought half price in boxing day sale and special cards (mum and dad, special couple, to both of you) for parents & sisters were 29p each (also bought 10 rolls wrap paper for £1).....

I live in the south, family live in the north. If I write my cards and take them with me when I visit family in summer hols then I can take all cards to my mums and she can hand them out in December.... saving me a fortune on stamps :D

Cost me £15 to post cards last year, more than the cards cost !!!

Bought all my cards and wrap in January and I'm always on the look out for cheap present options when I go shopping.

So far I have a stack of stuff that can be used as presents that in true MSE style was bought in the sales or in bargain shops but looks much more expensive.

I am a little bit conscious of the fact some people I buy for expect in their eyes ' proper' presents ie some tat in a box that's overpriced - but I managed to get round this last year with fancy gift bags and lots of tissue paper, which is a ploy I intend to use again this year. Everybody loved what they had even though it was cheap to buy it was wrapped nicely.

I still have a couple of the Mary Berry Christmas cake mixes (reduced last year in Tesco) that will be baked and smothered in brandy for this year.

    I love Christmas !

I've been thinking about christmas - I guess as it is so cold and miserable I'm subconsciously looking for a pick me up and it would usually be christmas! Need to get on the ball with the santa elf this year and plan the tricks a bit better. Been saving any £2 coins for the food and drink - well at least supplement it - can't see how many are in there!
