Old Style preparations for Christmas 2012!!!!!

Will have to start thinking, this time last year I`d finished buying! Already got cards/ paper in the sales, so far no-one is dropping any hints

timely as i was tidying some shelves and just found wrapped up tightly, some of last years christmas cake i had stored in an empty jacobs crackers box.. wondered what was lurking in there

Mmmm it tastes delicious

am always on the look out for festive ideas and foody treats so hope to share and gain ideas too

I'm determined this year to keep some money for buying cards, wrapping paper and gift in the sale after Christmas but also to remember that I've bought it and where I've put it :rotfl:

I know it's not OS but it is MSE... Debenhams have xmas stock on sale atm, in the Bull Ring store they had loads of This Works xmas crackers with balm inside, xmas gift sets, stocking fillers and posh rodial candles 70% off.


The other day I was looking for homes for the xmas cards I bought in the sales and contemplated writing them out now while I have lots of free time
I want to make more food gifts this year. They go down well in my extended family, most of them aren't very good cooks Got some really cheap brazil nuts recently so will make 90% choc brazil nuts for my recently diabetic uncle. Also two of my cousins have bought houses with OHs this year and they are redecorating and love shabby chic stuff. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for old fashioned mixing bowls for one.

I also think losing weight in anticipation of the xmas food is quite a good idea. I'm sure it would be so much tastier if you'd spent the last month eating brown rice and turkey! I'm getting so excited :rotfl:

Just a thought: did any of you want to start a side line of spotting the earliest Xmas cards in 2012? I think I saw new stock in early August 2011:rotfl:

my god friend comes to visit every august and reports the christmas cards are always out on display when she gets home

Enjoy Christmas and make the most of it if you have loved ones. This year and probably in the future it will be like any other day and I will have to think of Christmasses past. Its a time for family and friends. Alone it will be difficult. I will still try and watch the festive specials, listen to the festive music and do a small Christmas meal...

Appreciate Christmas whilst possible, it is special.

I lost my husband 5 weeks before Christmas. It was very hard. Had to pull myself together though, as I had two kiddies under three. It was a tough day but I had managed to get them some gifts, and I got both sets of grandparents over to stay, and we all muddled through somehow.

Christmas can be very lonely, but there's plenty of time now to start thinking about how to make it not so.

I am hoping to have lots of family to stay again, the little ones do love their grannies and grampsies.

And your post is the reason why Christmas is still special or must be where possible. I think it's wonderful that you found a way to make it through such a difficult time...I hope things are not as painful and you have found a way through such a sad time.
