Anyone know the cheapest place for porridge oats and own cornflakes a£di £idl asd* tesc* morris*ns Sainsbrys . All are a short drive away
I think probably tesco at the moment. They do 1kg value oats for 75p and 500g value cornflakes for 31p. I have tried the oats and they are fine, but not the cornflakes, but they do get good reviews and for 31p, worth a try i think.

Asda porridge oats 75p per 1kg bag and SP Cornflakes 46p 750g
Tesco 75p but their cornflakes are 500g packs at 31p not 750g, so the prices are about the same.
Sainsburys porridge £1 per 1kg bag and 500g basics cornflakes 31p
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Just recently, I've been too ill to think about O/S :o but I do miss going in the kitchen and preparing meals from scratch, meal planning, the grocery challenge - all of that :(

Take-out has featured a lot, lately, as I have not been able to cook but, albeit slowly, I am starting to venture into the kitchen again.

I do have a rather large stock cupboard but the danger is, things will run out of date before I get to use them. I feel safer with a stock cupboard though, than without.

    So, an action plan:
    • making a meal plan, even if I don't manage to stick to it every day
    • try and go through supplies and utilise things nearing their BBE
    • try and get back in the kitchen
    • return to the O/S ways I love but have had to put on hold
This thread has been an interesting read and I have found quite a few useful hints and tips on here :)
There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter
  • Now the weather is on the turn I will be adding a couple of extra things to my food shopping list, just to increase my supplies to cover illness or bad weather over the winter.

These will include pudding rice, suet, pasta, passata, baked beans, tinned fish, chopped tomatoes, sweetcorn, stock cubes, gravy powder......

Have really enjoyed reading this thread by the way:)
  • Pipkin - I wouldn't worry about dates on tinned or dry goods, these are fine many years after their bbe date, possibly indefinately, as long as they are not dented.

    That's how I see it;)

Tesco bargains..... as I had this months magazine given to me by my mil and noticed the Lenor had been reduced to £1.50 a bottle and the coupon inside the mag was for £1 off. I now have 9 bottles at 50p each.
Same went for the ariel stain remover spray at £2.00 but the coupon was for £1.50 off, will go back for another two bottles next week
I also have x2 ariel wash gel £1 coupon and reduced to £4

But thanks to this thread I think we are prepared for anything!!!! I feel so much more relaxed knowing winter is coming and even if we got snowed in? We have everything we need....well near enough.
