Who doesn't have a stock cupboard

I have to agree MM,
I have tried all that you suggest and more. And have compared ingredients and can see little if any difference to the more expensive items but as Christmas is coming many items have been withdrwan from some branches mainly for space reasons...having said that it has been ssaid elsewhere on MSE
Tesco's have increased variety f goods lately and many well known brands have suddenly been dropped to half price or less and many for a £1 so you are not having to necessarily buy from the low price/pown brand range at present.
The only problem is that you still need money to take advantage of the offers. If you can though now might be a time to buy and fill up any cupboards, a fridge, a freezer and a pantry or consider a food store.
I came to the conclusion it was because Aldi's is opening here in a few weeks and it is virtually next to Tesco's and might be to try and stop customers going there but olters have said they have seen the same thing happening at their Tesco's too."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I dont necessarily have a stock pile but enough at least to last 3 weeks +?
I've always got in beans/chopped toms/Passata/bag of rice 4kg/3kg bag of pasta/ 3 tubes of Tom pur!e/flour/sugar and uht milk/ stock cubes.
Meat is bought monthly and frozen In individual bags ie chicken breats, so I can get the right amount out.
I cook from scratch so all theses get used through out the month.
And all leftovers are frozen.
I would like to stock up more but I have a tiny kitchen and no other storage available.cant wait till we move next year.

My stockpile is in a wardrobe in my bedroom because I have nowhere else to put it in my tiny bungalow :rotfl: And I have a chest freezer that's cunningly disguised as a table in one corner
People have laughed at me many times but it is a bit of a safety blanket. But there's a saying, isn't there, about how I'd rather you laugh at my economies than weep at my extravagances? OH has just been made redundant and having my stockpile is a godsend, I know that whatever else happens we will eat (and have toiletries, and loo roll) for at least the next few months.
I have built up my stockpile on a budget, mainly using Approved Food, Co$tco and supermarket offers. I started off buying just a few bits on offer, then when I used them I 'paid' myself for them full price, then used that money to buy more offers, and so on. It can need a bit of self-discipline to do but it's worth it!0 -
Ok I've got a lil stock pile building up now.
Got the tesco mag and saw £1 off Lenor, they have reduced the 21 wash Lenor for £1.50 thus costing 50p a bottle so I got six mags...I've now got 6 bottles which should last a while but I've picked up another 6 mags to cut the coupons out and i will get two a week as the offer is on till the 21/10/12. Yey
Also bought two boxes of daisy bio wash powder = 60 washes and I've emptied into dh empty protein shake box as its huge, hopefully this should stop the bottom of the powder clumping together?
I've also saved the scoop he used for his shakes to measure a smaller amount to wash with per load.
I've topped up all my spices and herbs for another year, and my value cleaning products.
Hopefully I can get stocked up next month on other things ready for winter.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

You have to check the price per litre which should be on the shelf label, but I have found that sometimes it is not the cheapest way to buy milk as the price per litre on the larger cartons can be less.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

I suspect Aldi will set their prices more against Lidl than the other supermarkets..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
