I don't know what other people reason as fare priced but i was happy.
I went to IKEA and bought 4 shelving units at £15 each (well my dad did because he's loaded and i most certainly am not)
That's a lot of storage space for £60, the paint was lying around and that's the total outlay really.
Have a feeling it will take me forever to fill them though!
If i lived on my own i probably wouldn't care too much but with oh and 4 children to look after, the least i can do is feed them well and provide them with skill that will be useful to them in the future.
My mum doesn't understand where i get it from, she never prepared/cooked from scratch etc but then again she was never short of money. My grandma certainly did/still does and it helps that i actually enjoy doing it :0)I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -

My previous flat was the sub-basement of a Victorian townhouse which used to contain the kitchen, scullery, several walk-in cupboards/ pantries and a bedroom (one live-in staff). A tiny bathroom had been squeezed in under the stairs.
Gosh, how I loved those walk-in cupboards and how I wish I had access to something similiar now. Enjoy your fab store-room and don't try to [STRIKE]build[/STRIKE] stock Rome in a day, you'll get there in good time.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Lovely shelves hl I'm envious too. Mine is all crammed under the stairs.
We have a spare bedroom that is a dumping ground really. I'm seriously considering turning it into a multifunction room spare bedroom/chillout area/gym/food store room0 -

I really should have taken a before picture.....the room was 'that place you open the door and throw everything in and try to shut it before it all falls out!' (and i'm not kidding)
I feel so much better decluttering and it will be used for hoovers/cleaning supplies as well as extra food.
I would never have gotten around to it without this thread....got to love MSE OS!I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)

D'you follow the Dilbert cartoons? There's one of him itemising his preps then he asks colleague Alice what her preps are. Her response: I have your address.
ETA; What flavour of crisps do you have? I may decide to come loot your stocks.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Love the shelves Heaven, not bad price either. I as from the photos I put on am using bookcase I bought for 6 about 22 years ago from MFI, they have survived 2 house moves and been in just about every room in the house and still fine - I was good at putting flat pack furniture together I was :rotfl:- I have 4 of them but others still have books. Books from shelves now filled with tins, although not as full as not being buying food money been used for other things this past couple of weeks, said books are now living in a big Ikea bag until I go through them and see what I can give away, same to be done for other shelves.
You will find now you have a space for your stores that the shelves will fill up quickly. Yes at first it will seem its never going to happen but very soon its going to be have to move this here and that there as fits better, easier to find etc.
One thing don't get carried away and pick up special offers as you have the room as you can so easily do that and suddenly find shelves full of stuff you rarely use. Been there, done that and have the tee-shirt.:rotfl:
EnjoyNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

heavenleigh your shelving looks great. i've seen some metal shelving units in wickes for £25 each that look perfect for storage, it's sooo strong you could probably climb up it!
I was really getting into this thread and then I had to move because of the nasty piece of work that is my ex-oh and am feeling really sorry for myselfI don't even rent my own home now let alone own one, I have 4 square meters in my parents house. Bloody brilliant, eh? Feeling so vulnerable and generally pathetic and like a child again. Family store a bit but the house is a dinky new build so not that much.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Tomato ketchup flavour are best.... Asda 3 bags of 6 for £3.50, so it'd have been rude to only buy one bag.
My stocks are now down to 5 bags, but I've added 2 jaffa cake bars to my overall stock (started as a packet of 5, but you know how it goes once the packet's opened).0
