I've only been store cupboarding for about 3 months and haven't got too much in the way of stocks to help with the rising in costsBut at least I have a head start.
If it wasn't for threads like these I would definitely be panicking in the rise of my food bill.0 -

thanks for that, makes me feel even better that i'm spending the money on electricity to keep my food dehydrator going drying veg, next stop jerky!
i've known for a few months this was coming so i've stocked up heavily on veg then dehydrated it as well as buying meat when i can get it cheap, already have tons of pasta (thanks to approved food) and i've been stocking up on nuts and dried fruit from AF too
i've also been using less and less meat in our meals to get us used to it now whilst we have a choice. this way i can figure out a balance of how little meat we can eat and still feel healthy AND happy (i went veggie for 6 months but constantly felt weak, though now i get by on just 4oz/113g of meat/eggs/cheese per day)
hang on to your hats folks, i think we're in for a bumpy ride :eek:0 -

Tomato ketchup flavour are best.... Asda 3 bags of 6 for £3.50, so it'd have been rude to only buy one bag.
My stocks are now down to 5 bags, but I've added 2 jaffa cake bars to my overall stock (started as a packet of 5, but you know how it goes once the packet's opened).Blah0 -
Went in to Asda today and it was heaving, the flour and pasta shelves were almost empty. I think people have just started to wake up to what is comingBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Sainsburys Napolina butter beans tinned 2 for £1
East End butter beans 59p a tin but a lot of places do 3 for £1.
i used http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/ to check but it does not include Morrisons.
Attempting to build a store but falling over everything which is making me stressed and angry. Can i put everything like spare mustard, spare ketchup, balsamic vinegar, my current bottle of olive oil and my spare in the fridge? Theres plently of space but the closed mustard will be in there for months, same with the vinegar as only use a little.I put Branston in there too, would put my three jars of peanut butter in it but says store in a cool, dark place. There is plenty of space in the fridge as it is massive but only 2 cupboards in the kitchen which are quite small and one has pans in it.0 -

i'd check on approved foods, i often see large catering tins on sale fairly cheap, i decant them into small tubs and freeze what i won't use immediately.0
