The £100 bonus from FD would do nice or maybe I should go enter more comps or the lottery or something...! :D

  • Hello!

    Managed a NSD yesterday :j

Had a seriously boring day at work yesterday (similar to the day before and seemingly today again too :(), so had text OH at lunchtime to say it'd be great to just run away on a half day, sod the pay! He wasn't impressed (oops! :o), but said I shouldn't be wanting part time hours when I am capable of full time hours. That wasn't what I was getting at: I just wanted a few hours away... Anyway. We both were saying about needing the money for saving for a deposit for a house (OH has his own now, but we've already been talking about buying together soon) :D

Mentioned it again when we were chatting last night, and asked how soon would he be looking to buy - 3 or 5 years or what?

    He said 2

He wanted me to save £5k a year! Had to break down the figures for him and tell him to be realistic! Me aiming for £300 a month with FD is a serious push, never mind trying to save £417 a month!!! :o If he wanted that, then all birthdays (inc his!), Christmas, holidays, coffees, dinners out, cinema, etc, everything was out the window! I'd be housebound!

No chance!! I only got out of debt a few months ago! Don't get me wrong: I'm more than happy to save as much as I can, but I also want to be able to enjoy life every day, and be able to buy something that I see, or head away for a night, without feeling bad about it! Basically a happy medium.

But anyway. I'm gonna stick to my target as best I can (keep an eye on my signature!)

Phew! Exciting and interesting but scary conversation or what?! :p lol :)

Almost the weekend! Hang in there everybody!! :D

  • Almost the weekend again already?! Woohoo!!! :j

Had a 'good' spending week. (As in, I knocked £20 off my weekly budget and managed to stick to it!! Well done me!! :T) 2x NSDs this week which is great!

Payday tomorrow so looking forward to that! :D Gonna keep my weekly budget at the £20 less figure for October and see how I go. Although we're away at the end of the month for a long weekend so I imagine I'll need to spend the saved money then! Here's where we're going... :)

OHs DD3 birthday next week so present to sort out (split), but looking forward to the family meal/dinner out :)

Also looking forward to updating my signature next week ;)

I've been signed up to My Survey for ages. I've found recently that the sooner I actually do the survey, the better, so it means they're not already over quota by the time I get round to it. One of those really long, annoying and repetitive questionnaires this morning, and typically they didn't ask for your feedback at the end! :p

Oh. Got an email yesterday to say my pre-ordered CD was on it's way... Muse: The 2nd Law :) Can't wait to hear it!!!

Hope you're all having a good week!

    Hello HAW,

The holiday cottages look beautiful - wish daft dogs and I could join you (shame they're not fond of wet weather - kind of wipes out Ireland as a holiday destination! :rotfl: ).

May I ask how you're getting on with First Direct? Looks like a very good interest rate on the savings account you opened? :)

:o:oIgnore this post. I had already posted about the whooping cough just hadn't remembered I had oops.:o:o
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • hi *Robin*

They do look gorgeous! Got a good deal via Groupon so figured why not. We didn't really get away over the summer. Weekend is at end of October so it'll be cold likely, but the cottage has an open fire so we're happy!! :)

But would def agree with you on the weather - I guess we're just kinda used to it :p

So far so good with FD. Only opened it last month so only one payment into my regular saver so far (signature shows my target ). 8% is fab so gonna go for it!! Me and OH gonna aim for buying a house in a couple years so that's my goal...

    hi chevalier

lol :) Thanks for your concern. Cough seems to have kinda cleared, but insists on rearing it's head every few days. Got my inhaler to hand if I do find I'm struggling to breathe :o

Thanks, I'll look into it - am truly fed up with my current main bank's lengthening list of mistakes.

Are you staying in the cottage with wifi - can we look forward to nightly updates about what a wonderful break you're having? ;)

On the other hand maybe your OH was having faith in you that you COULD save that much! Could you do it if you were also doing surveys and mystery shopping to make up some of the money saved.

Time to change banks by sounds of it! :p FD seem to be tops for customer service and I've def had no complaints so far. No local branch but I can use HSBC for lodgements. Am keeping my Santander account open as a backup too.

Oh. No idea! Just checked and I can see one of the cottages has free broadband but ours doesn't seem to. You may have to wait until I get back to civilisation for an update...! :rotfl:

Joined the October NSD challenge (10 days ) this month for the first time so fingers and toes all crossed!!

Possibly. But then again...! If you read my post on the 21st you'll see he hadn't actually worked out the figures properly and seemingly just picked a random figure!!! lol :p

I'm on My Survey but it's taking ages to get the points :( Gave up Swagbucks as I couldn't get anywhere with it and I don't do Twitter or FB. Managed a few things on ebay recently but didn't get as much as I'd hoped. Need to do a seriously proper clean out at mums and get the stuff listed...

    The Autumnal October NSD Challenge

Signed up for 10 of these so fingers crossed! I do have a budget for every week but I'd like to not spend some days! I withdraw my 'allowance' on a Friday which is to last all week. Want to have some left over if I can!

So far so good (although I'm only 10 hours into my first day! :rotfl:)

Any sort of money leaving my account (DD/SO) or hands (cash) counts as spending.

Will be keeping my signature up to date to track progress!!!

    So... Goals for October...

    -Stick to budget every week.
-No online shopping unless absolutely necessary.
-Get OH to decide where he wants to go for an overnight stay for his birthday (Nov). Been asking for a month and he still hasn't said where yet...! :p
-Do surveys as soon as they hit my inbox (as much as possible!!)
(EDIT)-Limit myself to ONE take away cappucino a week... :o

Hope everyone has a good start to the day, week and month :D
