Do you have a card factory or card warehouse where you live? We have one and you get can get like 5 basic cards for £1.
Cheap and they do not have all the lovely duvey stuff in them either! I have a stash as a back up, but now since I am planning on moving abroad I have been using them up for everything! x
Good thinking! We've Card Land and Card Factory. One of which does £1 for 7 cards!
Met mum for coffee today and apparently dad spoke to bro a couple weeks ago and said he should be mature enough to have things sorted out. Ha! That's all well and good, but it's SIL that wears the trousersWhich is also why my birthday wasn't acknowledged by any of them.
So, I'll be the better person: I will get them each a card (the daughter will be 18), and I will hand deliver them (providing OH is right beside me - I'm not brave enough to do that on my own!) Why would/should I hand deliver? SILs last text to me: "...the card which I have to say was lovely, what wasn't so lovely was the fact you left it with your mum as opposed to delivering it to us". So I will personally shove the cards....;):D
Congrats on the new job - hope you can get more hours and/or another part-time position, then can finally wave farewell to the Titanic employer... :cool:Thanks Robin. Me too! Will try to speak to new boss this week. He's so lovely! I think coz he's not used to having anyone admin, he keeps asking me 'is that ok?' 'you sure?' or 'you don't mind doing x, y, z,'! Bless him!
Counted out my shrapnel last night - £90 in £1, £2 and 50p's! So gonna get that lodged into my bank asap
New kitchen delivered today! :j We started emptying and dismantling cupboards yesterday. Guy to come to start fitting on Friday. Big job but really can't wait to see the finished resultWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

WHAT?!?! Gosh that does not sound nice at all. I Still would have chucked a stamp on it and threw it in the post! 7 for £1 - PERFECT!!! Just be thankful that you are getting the card!
This is why I have become very very bitter about presents - the ones who EXPECT and ask for things are the ones who do not reciprocate it!!! Grrr x0 -
It's better to give than to receive. Although I'm not convinced! :rotfl:
I'll do the right thing for me. Whether they put the cards on display or light the fire with them, I don't care. Again, I'm doing what I gotta do for my own peace of mind.
Still haven't decided if I'm posting or delivering. I may run that one by OH later tonight....Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

Exactly - be the bigger person. A card is shows thought - well I think so. And you have done the right thing. You can move on.
It is better to give - nope. I am no longer convinced of that. Maybe to someone who appreciates it or has not requested a gift at a specified value OR the cash equivalent (no joke). :rotfl:0 -
I agree. A card does show thought. And the fact that I took the time to choose and write them (did buy a '10' and '18' specific card too, although didn't get a 'brother' one
)

 Are you kidding me??!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
No joke. My brother and my sister are REALLY bad for it.
I also might add that the gift he wanted on this occasion was DOUBLE the price of my birthday present that was 4 weeks before - short memories.
Hence why this year they ahve been told that unless they are 18 or under they are getting NADA.0 -
Perfect
:D

Its not that I do not mind actually buying them gifts - but like I said to people that appreciate it.
But when it becomes not nice and you are getting told what to get them and a value (unless you ask obviously) and he totally got on at me until he got the money....well it then becomes no longer NICE to give things! x0 -
I hear ya!
So, in future, save the time, effort and thought on someone who will appreciate itWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Hi HAW, :hello:
Just having a catch-up..
Post the cards. Don't think the recipients deserve a personal visit this year; sure you've got better things to do.
I'm rubbish at sending cards (since my kids grew up and there is no longer a supply of home-made masterpieces to send, lol).
If my lot receive a present within a couple of months either side of their birthdays, reckon am doing well. :rotfl:
They don't seem to mind.0
