I'm a [STRIKE]silent reader[/STRIKE] nosey stalker on this thread but talk to HAW practically everyday.

Still 40% to go which is all the 'prove it' stuff, but hopefully I can work bluff my way through that ;)

No contact from SIL since last week and quite happy to leave it like that for the time being too :o

TalkTalk seems to have settled itself and has been working fine. Laptop/TV/wireless keyboard combination working well too which is great. Took a while and a little hair loss, but we got there :D

Doing not so bad with the spending/no spending at the minute. The most recent 'big' purchase (coat down to £25 from £80 in Sports Direct) was taken back for a refund 2 days later :)

Short break/holiday has been mentioned a few times for November. We're actually debating a trip to Valencia to watch the MotoGP - providing the price is right! :) Getting there from Belfast though seems to be the awkward/difficult/expensive part. Typical :p

Everything seems to be hunky dorey in the HAW house which is great :D I don't think it's the calm before the storm  lol :) Or maybe I'm just learning to be stronger and better able to deal with things or nip them in the bud before they escalate. Either way, all good :D

    Trust everybody is well :)

  • Ok. Got this idea from another thread but figured I'd just stick mine in my diary...

    Christmas budget :o (sorry!!)

OH - £0/£100 - we like to go away for a night so this will be hotel/dinner/drinks budget
    DD1 - £0/£50
    DD2 - £0/£50
    DD3 - £0/£50
    Mum - £0/£50
    Dad - £0/50
    Friends x 2? - £0/50 (£25 each) (...and sure I've 1 less to worry about this year :o)
Niece x2/nephew - £0/£75 (£25 each) (not fair on kids missing out just coz my big sister is a ......!)
Cards - £0/£15 - prefer to buy individual/special cards for people when we're not doing presents
Food/drink - £0/£100? - no notion! Me and OH do the shopping so it depends what bargains we find! But will try to keep a track of it :) Someone suggested elsewhere on MSE about getting a crimbo food box and starting to fill now when stuff is available/on offer. Less stress/cost nearer the time! Will have a chat with OH about that when I get a chance.

So far that's about £600 all in. Which isn't bad i don't think. The what to buy is the bit I'll seriously struggle with! :o

Won't be going on any crimbo nights out. Can't see it anyway. Will likely just meet up with friends and bro/sisters etc for dinner and a catchup. Spose that should be in my budget too...

Dinners - £0/£100 - that will allow me 5 dinners @ £20 max a go. I should be able to meet with 2 sisters in one go so that should help ;) lol.

£700 then? Have the money ok thanks to my good saving with FD last year :D

    Anyone else??

  • Great idea about the Christmas present budget HAW, thanks for sharing. I normally stick to set amounts for people but I've never actually added up how much all that costs if you see what I mean!

If it helps, funky pigeon are doing 3 for 2 on all cards at the minute. No code, just automatic deduction when you buy 3 Xx

  • Christmas budget sounds like a plan. I dont think we are doing brothers and sisters presents again. I shall follow in your footsteps (copy) and do that too.
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Hope you've been missing for nice reasons not nasty! Xx

HAW, what about hampers for all DD's? As you know I do them each year for the females in mine and OH's family. Doing one for a friend's little girl (11, will be 12 by xmas). Got a large clear box (old ferrero rocher box), I'm putting her name on it in crystal gems to create a dressing table box. Filling it with lip balm, nail varnish, hair clips/bands, funky keyring, little change purse, mini perfume. So far its cost £20 but looks great.

For your OH why not trawl the offers websites (gogroopie etc) for offers, then if you have a little left over you could buy him some little treats (nice aftershave, Home Bargains do nice ones under £10). Also what about a 'promise book'? i.e. run a nice bath, breakfast in bed etc.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

What a great Christmas Budget!!! Erm terrible that I have not even thought about it...lets see!

    :santa2::rudolf::xmastree::xmassmile:xmassign:

OH - no limit  is that bad? We just buy/get something each other likes or wants! Will need to discuss a budget this year. Maybe set a £100 budget?

Mums & Dads - £50 each (Total £200) - or again more if it is something they really want

Sisters/Brother/Nieces & Nephews - £20 each (Total £140) normally we do more but this year as WE are getting married so setting a budget (they have set budgets in the years they got married).

X-Mas nights out - Paid £90 so far on them! EEK! Still got £20 to pay for one then drinks for the rest sooo lets budget another £150 on top!

Dinner & Drinks - We still go to parents so NADA :rotfl: But lets add another £100 for drinks and misc.

New year nights - £30 to pay and then drinks on top - £100 total.

Wedding - Got a new year wedding - £200 total? 2 nights away in Edinburgh City Centre.

    Total Guestimate - Approx £1000? - OFFFFT :shocked:_pale_:wall:

I always wondered how people with kids spend £1000 on Christmas- but look at me £1000 with NO kids!!! x
