I'm knitting and staying out of the grey - we seem to have lost the sun!

We don't have it here so can't help you on that one unfortunately! :( Got soaked on the way in to work. 'Drowned rat' springs to mind! Thankfully had a spare pair of trousers and socks in my drawer :rotfl:

What are you knitting at the minute?
I really didn't fancy World War Z but thinking it might be worth a watch now!

I don't understand men either, but at least he is TALKING about your trip now so still heading in the right direction! Xx

It def is worth the watch :D

Yes and no. It wasn't even a talk about this hol. This would be another one for some time in the future!!

DD3 mentioned the hol last night, and she brought up the comparison with his biking trip (which I was trying to avoid! :o) Her comment was along the lines of 'if you're allowed to go on holidays why can HAW not?' (brave girl ;) lol)
He's adamant that his isn't a holiday as they'll be travelling all day and sleeping rough so therefore not much fun. To which my response was 'it's in europe so as far as I'm concerned it is a holiday, and going on holiday by myself will be hard and not much fun either' ;)

Said to OH last night before he went out about looking online at hols. Again. To which he said yes! Happiness was short lived though. When we got to bed and he asked for the laptop, I asked what for. Yip. You guessed it. Ebay...

    *sigh*

Back to thinking of telling him to 'stuff it' and I will go on my own!

    EDIT:
Meeting SIL for lunch today. Looking forward to it, don't get me wrong, but I know she'll be asking about the hol again and I won't want to talk about it! :( I should be getting excited about our plans by this stage!!

I am going out for lunch at the local pub tomorrow and I suspect that it will be chucking it down as I go and return :p

I have just cast on a cardigan - knitted all in a piece (it is a Lion Brand simple pattern and the first thing I have tried that isn't a scarf/shawl/stole )
    Must use my stash up!

Hope you have a nice yummy pub grub lunch KW :D (and hope you manage to get there and back reasonably dry!!)

:T to your knitting! Very brave!! Something I learned the basics of when I was a wee toot but wouldn't have a clue now :o

    ....and back to the holiday...

OH got home quite late from boys club last night. He mentioned 2 websites for checking for hols (which I've already checked during my last 2-3 months of researching! emo23.gif) But then he seen the look on my face. I asked him a question - did he ever have any intention to go on holiday with me this summer? To which he did said yes. But, as per usual, it was always the money was the problem. He said he's never spent more than £500 on a holiday blah blah blah, and I was happy to spend stupid money to go away (my money: I can do what I want, but I still want to get a good deal!! It's not like I'm going away every year!)
I said about his obvious lack of interest in the holiday. If he's wanting a car/motorbike/helmet/house, he trawls the internet for hours on end (to the point where I'm cracking up! :o), but ref the hol what's he done? Brought home one leaflet from a newspaper, mentioned 2 websites, and looked in the window of 3 travel agents. Whoopee! :p
I mentioned the girls and that no plans have been made for them. He's apparently asked his mum who isn't keen but could maybe do a night or two. And he hasn't spoken to their nan yet, but really she's enough on her plate already without 3 teenage girls for a week!
THEN he suggested that if we don't get away in the summer then what about in December/January!?!!

Before going home yesterday, I had decided to just forget the whole thing. Maybe the 5 of us head away for a night or 2 while I'm off, then the rest of my leave would be ME time and I'd head to my friends house in Donegal for a couple of nights, catch up with family, etc etc. But then I've been looking again today and I've found even better holiday deals for under £400!

    Stuck! :(

    Hello pickle!

Sorry I haven't been around, even sorrier that nothing seems to have got any better. Quite honestly I would tell him to shove it & go on your own. He obviously isn't interested; there's no viable option for the girls to be cared for. That basically is his get out of jail free card right there... He can shove that one in your face at the last second as a reason not to go and what can you say?

His 'trip around Europe on a motorbike' sleeping rough is called 'TRAVELLING' and is an accepted form of HOLIDAY in any country and culture. Silly monkey, he is asking for a smack in the chops methinks.

I think you should tell hi you're going to book yourself a holiday and what it costs you is your own concern, but if he so chooses that he would like to come, he is welcome to book himself in too as long as he can sort the girls out and deal with the cost. Regardless of what he does, you will have a fab time off and you deserve some SUN, not winter holidays in miserable weather!

    Hugs to you as always!

Knit Witch, well done on making a cardigan!! My daughter has had 3 knitted cardigans since she was born and at the grand old age of 14 months, with an extra 16lbs on her these days, they ALL still fit. Knitted cardigans are magic!:rotfl:

    July :eek::D

How was everybody's weekend? Anything nice/exciting happen? How was your grub KW?

Mine was grand. Was pretty quiet Fri and Sunday. Saturday we headed to Belfast, just with DD1 and her cousin. The other 2 decided they didn't want to go. Later on me and OH went out for a couple of drinks with his bro and OH. Good wee night.
    Hello pickle!

    :rotfl::o

Had a 'talk' with OH yesterday about a few things, the holiday being one of them. Bottom line? I'm fed up with his lack of interest and he's fed up with my obsession!! :o Think we've the air cleared for now anyway which is the main thing.
To be honest, after the talk I had a good think about things. My relationship with OH is more important than any holiday. If we get away for a couple of days, even just in NI or southern Ireland, that will do me fine. I just think me and him need a few days to ourselves, wherever that may be. We still may get away somewhere sunny, and I haven't ruled that out. He was checking with the grans yesterday if they'd be ok to have the girls so that bit is ok :) Still keeping our eyes peeled for a last minute bargain ;)

    THANK YOU! Agreed 100%!!
    Hugs to you as always!

And sometimes much needed too :o Thank you!! :)

PS. Thank you everybody for listening to my rather regular rantings ref the hol :o Much appreciated :)

I can see how that would happen as you both seem to have been singing from different hymn sheets about the holiday. I'm glad you've reached an agreement for now, and yes the relationship is more important than a holiday. However, make sure for your own sake that it's not just you 'giving in' again. I used to do that far too often!

    Hugs from me too Xx

Thank you Lucky :) It was very much a case of that. He just wasn't interested in looking while prices were still high, and preferred to wait til last minute. But he should've made that a lot clearer though, as it just came across to me as not interested at all! :p

Giving in? That thought had actually crossed my mind too :o Still want to go away, yes, but I want it to be with OH. I want to enjoy looking for something with him and planning with him and getting excited with him. No more hunting on my own! ;)

    Mmmm hugs are good :D

  • Men are a bit rubbish at these things I find. Mine spends hours planning his wargaming but next to no time planning stuff with me. Its "whatever" or "I dont mind" which is apathy soaked in disinterest to me.

    Pfft!

'Pfft!' is right!! Glad it's not just me who has to suffer through hours of listening to useless crap!!! ;):rotfl:

Will be hoping for free listing on ebay again soon. Due this weekend I imagine.

What survey sites do you do skint? You've huge earnings!! :T I'm on My Survey but it's slow, joined Global Test Market but their surveys seem LONG and you never know how long it's gonna take until you start, Valued Opinions is my preference but I get screened out quite a bit.

Tuesday : sooooooo tired! emo27.gif Can't wait to get off work and have a few lie ins. Would also help if I went to bed earlier at night too.... :o

Almost at the end of my 1st year with First Direct, and I'm bang on target for the 8% on the regular saver! :j:j Honestly never thought I'd be able to do it, so well proud of myself!! :D Haven't decided what the money will be used for yet, but I figure it'll go into an ISA for the time being at least!!

  • I use all of them I can. Its all my surveys, ebay and cashback from quidco etc grouped together. I have global, toluna valued and all the others I can get on. I just keep at it. Valued is the best by miles.
