Hey all
I know I'm always glad it's Friday, but it's a bonus that it's payday too:D
Have done my usual transferring between accounts to get the interest (what did we ever do without internet banking?!) FD savings will be going up in a couple of days and I can't wait to change my sig to the new total!!
Honestly? I'm really proud of myself for how much I've managed to save! This time last year I had just paid off the final debt owing to my mum. Yes, sometimes I think I've gone from one extreme to the other (not spending coz I'm in debt to not spending coz I'm saving) but it feels soooooo good! Once you put your mind to it, anything is possible! To anyone else in debt, stick at it! There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Go for it!
I managed 14 NSDs in May and my target was 12 :j Have set my target for 14 in June too  I know life sometimes gets in the way and loads of NSDs aren't always within reach, but I know for me it's made me very aware of how much I'm spending and how often. And how unnecessary a lot of it is too!Def a challenge I'd recommend to anyone!
Have requested my £50.50 payout from TCB for my O2 upgrade!I only upgraded on the 11th May so they're super fast! Straight into savings that one I think!! (Actually. We need electric apparently. Guess that's where the ££ will be going
)
Robin: So much for the bright idea of a bike factory tour. When me and OH were looking at hols, I mentioned Bologna, and he basically said 'no' coz he'd be going there with the guys  I said he'd only mentioned France and Switzerland to me, never Italy. Was a bit annoyed to be honest!
Basically the way we've left it (for now!) is that we'll probably book something last minute unless we see a good deal before that. But....
He's been yapping on with his mates and planning this and planning that for ages, making it a trip of a lifetime sorta thing (yes I get that bit no worries)
But for our holiday we're pretty much just gonna book the cheapest thing available. Just makes me feel a bitat the lack of fuss/planning/hype/interest/etc for our hol. Feel a bit short changed if you get me
Ah well. Will get something sorted....
DD1 had an awful day yesterday, probably one of the worst in her lifeThere wasn't much I could do for her, but I was glad I could be there for her
DD3 was chatting to me and she told me about something she told her dad about me - made me all warm and fuzzy and loved
No big plans for this weekend as yet. Have thought about hill walking with OH tomorrow maybe, weather dependent.
Everyone: enjoy your weekend. Hope your hol is still going well PLMBL.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Hello HAW, :hello:
You are right to be proud of your status as a saver, it is a great feeling after years of debt isn't it?
(Not that am quite there yet m'self).HeadAboveWater wrote: »So much for the bright idea of a bike factory tour. You know, this trip-of-a-lifetime thing is starting to sound very windy; pub talk. One of those trips which won't ever actually happen because something will always get in the way:
One chap's bike won't be running properly, someone else can't afford it, another has just become a new Dad so can't go away, and then of course there's the perennial favourite; the expired passport discovered six hours before they're all due to set off..
What's really against 'em of course, is the refusal to include partners. Without female organising skills the chances of this band of chums getting to the mainland, let alone across to Europe, would not be something I'd bet on.
Thinking of it as his dream may help - assume they've been talking about it for years? The only other way you could join in would be to get your own bike and demand to be included as an 'honorary bloke'..?
Expensive and impracticable, of course.HeadAboveWater wrote: »But for our holiday we're pretty much just gonna book the cheapest thing available. Just makes me feel a bitat the lack of fuss/planning/hype/interest/etc for our hol. Feel a bit short changed if you get me
Yes; understand how annoying that must be.
But on the other hand you've pretty much got carte blanche to make your own choice for the holiday that will happen.
There are plenty of late deals - very MSE of course - and it's rather exciting to think you'll be exploring somewhere new which will also be a last-minute surprise.
The Hotukde@ls site has some very good offers..HeadAboveWater wrote: »DD1 had an awful day yesterday, probably one of the worst in her lifeThere wasn't much I could do for her, but I was glad I could be there for her
Sorry to hear DD1 has been suffering; she is lucky you are there for her. Hope things are looking up today.HeadAboveWater wrote: »DD3 was chatting to me and she told me about something she told her dad about me - made me all warm and fuzzy and loved
Lovely. Makes it all worth while.
Hope you have a good weekend - does the forecast suggest that a walk would be pleasant?0 -

That has actually crossed my mind to be honest!! Don't want to hope too much on them not going coz then if/when they do I'll be gutted!!(for the last 3-4 years they've been pub-talking about it, he had the girls to worry about, but now that he's got a live-in babysitter....???
)

Obviously:rotfl:
I think they've been watching a bit too much of Ewan McGregor in Long Way RoundThinking of it as his dream may help - assume they've been talking about it for years? The only other way you could join in would be to get your own bike and demand to be included as an 'honorary bloke'..?
I like it!! :rotfl:But on the other hand you've pretty much got carte blanche to make your own choice for the holiday that will happen.

True. At least I know I've something to look forward toSpose I just keep thinking 'it'd just be my luck that we can't get anything sorted with it being smack bang in the peak time'
Gotta stop that!!
Sorry to hear DD1 has been suffering; she is lucky you are there for her. Hope things are looking up today.
She's a strong girl so I know she'll make it through the other sideA few irreparable scrapes along the way though
Hope you have a good weekend - does the forecast suggest that a walk would be pleasant?
Ummmmm no!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Ditto everything Robin said!
So sorry to hear things have been less than great for DD1. She is lucky to have you. As is OH, it's about time he realised that.
My holiday was so so. Wouldn't go back. Wherever you and OH go, don't go there!!! :rotfl: XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

(and ref the boys biking trip, yes there's a lot of talk about it at the minute, but his mum, his dad and his sister are all saying it's just talk and it'll never happen)please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »So sorry to hear things have been less than great for DD1. She is lucky to have you.
Yeah I think so. She's doing ok now. Bit of a :mad: time with her BF over the last few days, which seemed to be upsetting her more than stuff with her mum, but all seems hunky-dorey againplease-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »As is OH, it's about time he realised that.
AGREEDHad one of those talks with him last week and that was one of the points I made!! :rotfl::D:D

:rotfl: Thanks for the non-recommendation!!!
We're still on the lookout. Can't decide if we'd be better leaving booking til last minute and getting a cheap deal seeing as it's peak season we're going. Or would we end up not getting anything?
I've seen a good few deals on Groupon which we would love, but the ones which inc flights are flying from mainland UK. And flights from NI to there in July aren't cheapDunno what to do!
Not doing great on the NSDs this month - YET! I'm starting tomorrow...
On a plus note, I'm reeeeeeally close to my FD target!! :j:j:j
I've a short week this week! Have booked Friday off. Getting the train to London/derry, meeting a friend for lunch, then meeting another friend and heading to her house in Donegal for the night! Her hubby's away on a youth weekend, so it'll be just her, me and the kids. Really looking forward to itSome much needed girlie time
...which I also managed yesterday! My friend came to Coleraine to meet me for a coffeeWas fab seeing her again and catching up!
Happy Monday everyone
EDIT:
My £50 from TCB for upgrading my O2 contract is now in my savings account!! Woohoo!!!!:D:D

All sounding great well done for being a saver!! As for DD, its rank when our girls are hurting but it will make her stronger and more cautious and is a lesson learned.
Men!!! think they can do anything they set their mind to!! The truth is they can only do what we allow them and should be grateful for that!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Thanks skint
Agree with what's happening the girls. Hopefully it will make them all stronger. They've got each other and they've got us. We actually all had a really good night last night, full of giggles and silly stuff! Think we all just needed a bit of that!
Men?? Hmmmm back to needing to scream at the minute! Boys and their toys!
And OH doesn't do what he's allowed. He does what he wants. Always.
Change of subject now
Unexpected NSD #2 for June. And I say unexpected as I was in Tesco's at lunch to get garlic bread for me and OHs dinner tonight. But the text I got from him pee'd me off so I dumped it back on the shelf. We can do without
Also lodged £105 of shrapnel into my bank today :j
Thinking: holiday. Should I maybe think about going on my own? :huh:Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I'll come with you
. I love that you dumped the garlic bread coz he peed you off :rotfl:. That's why you are slim though and I'm not - I'd have bought it, and chocolate, and eaten it all myself!! Hope OH has made it up to you now! Xx

Perfect! I'll let OH know he can go....:D Any preference as to the destination? (Well, I know where you don't want to go :rotfl:)

Hmmm with regards to the slim/chocolate/eating part, there is an explanation to that one....
OH annoys/bugs/stresses me out.
I can't control what he says to me.
I can't control the way he says it to me.
I can't control how I react (unless I've the head screwed on seriously tight!).
I can't control my emotions.
I can't control how he makes me feel.
What I can control is what I eat. Or not eat in my case.
(Yeah he made it up ok, even though he didn't actually know how much he pee'd me off in the first place!)
