My main hard drive is split into 2 partitions. C: is the operating system and
stores my documents and user data. I also have a 500gb external drive for storing video and music.
For backing up I have a 1TB external drive which I connect every week or two and I use GoodSync to back up any changed files. It's very easy to do.Martin0 -
I do a differential image once a week with Paragon Back and Recovery Free and usually a full/base image once a month. I use SyncBack Pro for files, mainly media, as and when required.0

There is no stead fast answer for backups, it all depends how much data you have, how important it is to you and how often you change it.
For most people (myself included) copying the important stuff to an external hdd / usb pen every few weeks is more than adequate for me.
At the end of the day... you back it up or you lose it and have no one else to blame!0 -

I set a weekly backup (using win 7s backup), including Disk image to my external drive. I also do the occasional good disk image using Paragon software, as you can do multiple disk images.0

I rarely backup my computer. Don't really need to as it has always been running at top speed and malwares rarely gets through my system.0
