Some issues to be aware of

    1. I have heard several reports of accounts being charged with payments shown as debit card payments which the account holder disputes. Some have been overseas when the account holder was clearly in this country. Check your accounts carefully when information is eventually updated.

    2. Direct debits appear to have been paid by Ulster Bank but do not - as yet - show on the account. Some people have utility bills set up in such a way that they are charged monthly via a debit card as opposed to a direct debit. These are not being paid if there do not appear to be available funds in the account. I have seen emails people have received from utility providors saying payment has been refused.

    3. Be very careful from a security point of view when leaving an Ulster Bank branch with cash. Most people leaving will be carrying cash and are potentially an easy target.

This has happened to me. Money was taken out and listed as a debit card payment for £49 which I know I have not spent anytime in the last few weeks. I went to the Bank to state that I know that this has not come from me but they told me I had to wait until the whole debacle had been sorted until they can do anything.

I was just watching the RTE lunchtime news. They are saying Ulster Bank have no idea when the system will be working properly North and South

Yes, RTE not pulling any punches and giving it headline status on their news a 9pm.

Quite a contrast to the lower key approach of the BBC and UTV. I guess they have their orders, especially as RBS is British govt. owned.

Ive come home from work and forgot my payslip so thats me screwed I take it?

Im going to try at a branch tomorrow tho. They are giving customers on benefits money without proof except the regular payments on their account so heres hoping that works for me too since I have been getting it regular for the past 4yrs.

Having said that, UTV just did a good piece on their late evening news

I'm with Ulster Bank. This whole current fiasco has me leaving them. I was in the Co-Op bank today and think I'll go with them.

I had a couple of questions about their accounts. Firstly the Privilege account you pay £9.50 a month for. I need to get an annual travel insurance policy which account would provide. Has anone experience of the Co-Op policy? Same thing with the mobile phone insurance offered?

Also I would like to know my right in accessing my money at Ulster Bank. I have been in branch and they gave me £300 in cash based on my wage slip. Can I go in and withdraw all my wages? I think they have a £1200 daily limit so I'd need to do this in 2 lots. What if they say no? Is there any laws governing what a bank can do regarding my money? Are they legally required to give me my money when I ask for it?

    Cheers

I'd wait until the mess is sorted out and see what enticements they are going to make to try to retain custom. If you are a saver, there might be some good interest rate deals.

Also, they have quite a decent 'premium' current account service that you normally have to pay for. They might offer it free for a year or something like that. Or maybe offer some interest on current accounts.

Your delusional, they'll crack open a bottle of champagne, give themselves a pat on the back and then carry on like nothings happened.

We have withdrawn over £2k in last week with payslips , only left enough in to cover direct debits. Like you say they have daily imit which is why we did it in 2 days , was not an issue and it is your money.

Why not go with Nationwide, who provide that and don't charge you £10 a month for it?
