Out of interest, my brother-in-law purchased a van from a disability centre 5 years ago. He was overjoyed to receive free car tax discs, as the vehicle was registered for use by a charity that transported disabled people. (IT still has the logo on the side). He still receives free tax discs when he taces his car. What are the risks of this? (I am not a troll, I have always actually been quite worried about him doing this, he has Aspergers and is a bit clueless).

This is quite intersting to all those that use the disability car for going to and from work
The Direct.gov.uk website says "To claim exemption from vehicle tax, the vehicle must be registered in your name or registered in the name of someone you nominate to drive for you (a nominee).
The vehicle must only be used for your purposes, for example shopping or getting prescriptions.
If it is being used by the nominee or someone else for their own personal needs, then the exemption will be lost and the normal rate of vehicle tax must be paid."

Is a disability car a car that has additional support needs?

Does it need help getting up in the morning, like a jump start. Or needs a tow truck over uneven ground. Or has to be reminded to fuel up and change its oil? Maybe it has issues when out in public and suffers from anxiety attacks.

This is not happening, you are being lied to. To get or renew a disability tax the person eligable has to have an exemption certificate.

i think the ones with genuine disabilities should be given benefits.

I think the ones who lay it on thick, shouldn't.
