Thank you for the welcomes :)

I do have to confess that the wins will include eating cake though. I have won a 2 night stay at a Mayfair hotel which includes breakfast and afternoon tea. The afternoon tea doesn't really look resistible :

I am sure the website did mention a gym though. I will pack some gym stuff as I know dd is planning using it, so we could make it a mum/daughter session.

    I have made a start!

I am very poor with beauty routines, so will have a lot to learn from everyone on this thread. :o

    Stage 1:
activity was a mixed success. My hair had a lot of grey in it, so I decided to dye it before the hair cut. Part of the prize is an intensive conditioning treatment and hot towel wrap, so felt it was best to dye first and then get my hair back in condition.

I had a 'nice and easy' box of hair dye. Either I am incompetent or the name is a misnomer. I got hair dye in places it really shouldn't be. The bathroom scrubbed up ok, but I can't get it off the paintwork on the bathroom door or a wee bit on the skirking  I will now need to touch up the paint work :rotfl:Decided the shade a bit too dark, but its a big improvement on the grey.

    Stage 2:
I gave myself a mini facial. Despite no regular routine there seemed to be plenty of odds and sods of facial products in the house. I think these are free samples via mse as most are trial sized.

I started with a cleanse using a sample of Lavera wildrose cleansing milk - gorgeous smell.
I found a lone packet of peach facial/ scrub mask and used that second.
Then I put on NO 7 refine & rewind serum (trial size)
Then some Guinot youth renewing skin cream (trial size)
I finished with some intensive eye cream from a past beauty bible trial.

Thankfully facial more successful and my skin looks and feels lovely.

Any hints and tips very, very welcome. . .

Welcome aboard Prudent - what a great prize to win too!

Today has been a great cycling day - just back from another 2hr bike ride with a friend off road locally which was GREAT! Lots of kcals burnt off today too!

Just scoffed a sarnie down and a yoghurt then its time to sweep and mop the floors, wash down the bike and then take Mr Dog out for his nice weekend walk then back to fab myself up by tidying my nails up, softening my feet and a facial then some tea and flop down to say goodbye to the Olympics

    Hi all,

Maman - loving the beauty shops :) Haven't really treated myself in ages, might see if I have time for a mini-mooch round the shops this week - though they're a bit busy with the festival being on!

Bitsy - I try not to think about body fat, my stupid hi-tech scales does that as well and I usually step off at that point as it depresses me - let's just say I'm not far off being more fat then anything else

LL - the hair sounds nice, bit of a change if nothing else! Be careful with the weedkillers :p

WW - have a nice meal out, well done the hoover victory :rotfl:I probably need to do that with mine as it's always playing up but tbh think I can live with being an unenlightened female if it gets OH to do the mucky job for me :o

faithless - a little treat now and again won't do any harm I'm sure, especially when you're getting some exercise in :)

Prudent - welcome! Sounds like a great prize and you're making a good start on the routines already :)

Well, have had quite a chilled day for me so far :rotfl:Went to meet some friends for coffee - had a flavoured water and no cake so was quite proud of myself! - and we had a nice chat, they both write as well so was good to talk about things like that with others at the same stage. Just got in now, so going to try and get on with some editing - not decided on photo or writing yet.
Not done any exercise today, was going to have a rest day after doing the c25k the last 3 days but am feeling surprisingly unachey as opposed to yesterday so might at least try a little walk in a bit if it stays nice. Was rather naughty and peeked at the scales again this morning and they are showing another pound down! Will not count until my proper weigh in on Tuesday though as might have wobbled up or down by then :o

    Morning Fabbers!
Olympics over and now we can come back to reality! I thought the ceremony last night was very good - a bit on the quirky English side, not sure what the rest of the world will make of some of it? But who cares! One question though.... what is the point of Posh Spice? I thought it was hilarious the way she was hanging on to the top of the taxi for grim death!

Went for an early Lebanese meal with friends and was back for 10pm so saw most of the show. I tried lots of things I'd never had before, most of which were very nice - I feel bloated and tired today though, diet well and truly blown:o. I had a starter and a main and 2 bottles of beer but no dessert. Oh well, I don't eat out very often so will just enjoy it and get back on the wagon today. Think bikini tomorrow:eek:

Will go for a run later and pop to the shops for something light for tea, not been shopping this week. The packing is all done, the house is clean and I don't have to do dogwalking today so will have to find something to fill my time today....not sure what yet.
Fab wise - it will be a complete defuzz, face scrub and general tidy up of me this evening ready for the horrible early flight tomorrow (have to be at the airport at 4.15am:eek:, luckily I live 10 mins away.)

Hope work isn't too bad for those that are back to the grind today. xx

Welcome Prudent - sounds like you've got off to a good start.

    Good morning everyone.

Well here we are - a new week - are we all raring to go. Of course we are. :rotfl:

I've a lot to do this week, I need to press on with some serious house fabbing, trip to the tip, sort out the garage, some more decluttering and some paperwork. All a bit overwhelming so I will just remember the elephant;) and do a little each day.

Had a lovely time at my sister's birthday bash - a little too much champagne but what the heck - it's not every day your baby sister hits the big Five O. My boys came with me and we all had a lovely time, even Mum & Dad managed to make it. My new hair colour got lots of compliments - The words Zandra Rhodes were bandied about. I assure you though it isn't pink - I'm not that brave.:rotfl:

Such a pity my OH couldn't be there - he was such a party animal.
Never mind I'm going to spend the day with him today and then on Wednesday I have arranged for some more of his old colleagues to visit him.

Today I will take in the hair clippers and give him a hair cut and a bit of a "beautify". I was cutting his nails for him on Saturday and ending up cutting the nails of one of the residents - poor chap doesn't seem to have any family to visit him so has no-one to do these things. His nails were like talons. Carers and nursers are no longer allowed to cut someone's nails - health and safety!!! The world has gone mad:(

Watched the closing ceremonies last night - found it gloriously bonkers - goodness knows what foreigners thought of it - it was quite surreal at times. Music was good though - no more Macca thank goodness. The Who were in fine fettle and the Pink Floyd and Queen tributes were pretty damn good.

So ladies I hope the Olympics has inspired us all to get fit and active. I know this sounds a bit odd but I really fancy having a go at fencing and archery now. Not sure if I'm physically strong enough for archery but I might see if there is anywhere this neck of the woods where I can give it a go.

At my sister's bash there were quite a lot of her "horsey" friends there and they kept on at me to take up riding again. I don't know if my back is up to it but I could perhaps try a couple of short sessions just walking round the ring to see how I go.

Anyway time to start the day.

    Have a good one.....
  • Good morning to everyone! I apologize for not being around very much and keeping you all updated recently. It's nice to see you all being so positive. I seem to have missed quite a lot. Fasting... Wow! I recorded the Horizon programme but am yet to watch it so I'm a bit behind. I have today off work so will try to catch up!

It's nice to see new people wanting to join. well done on your win Prudence! I'm often on the competitions page on M.S.E...it's quite addictive! I also love the freebies page, it's great for trying out various beauty products.

I think part of the reason why I haven't been posting on here is that I've been feeling a little low that I haven't gotten very far in reaching my targets, I feel like I should be doing a lot better by now!

But I'm going to stop beating myself up and try to focus on the good. I have realised that my self-improvement will be an on going project and that there isn't a quick fix! I have good days and bad. My aim is to increase the number of 'good'. :)

Some ways in which I feel I have improved are:

    1. My mood- Although I might not feel wonderfully happy all the time, I am a lot less tearful. This time last year I was in a very low place. I am feeling a lot more 'ok' about my life and don't get tearful hardly at all anymore.

    2. I am feeling slimmer! My scales aren't showing much of a weight loss but I feel that my waist is slimmer and my clothes are starting to fit me a little better.

    3. I am making time to have more fun. Yesterday we had a picnic on the beach and I had a really nice time. It was a lovely day and was so nice to just sit on the beach and relax for a while and not think about things I need to get done for a while. :)

    4. I have my new tooth! My dentist did a really good job and I am really pleased! It doesn't look fake at all, it just blends in with the rest of my teeth. :)

Today I need to give my hair some TLC, it is in a bit of mess right now (faded colour, dry etc..).

I've taken inspiration from the Olympics and am going to try out a random sport - kaufball on Wednesday with a friend. It's a 50:50 mixed sex ballgame designed by the Dutch apparently?!

I saw the new Bourne film yesterday, was really good, the first half was excellent. Also Jeremy Renner, whilst not conventional 'leading man' hot, is better looking the more you see him. I'm getting a little flustered even just thinking about him :rotfl:

Anyway, the fighting scenes reminded me how much of a buzz I used to get from kickboxing, which I did years ago. I can't justify paying for extra classes whilst I have gym/class/swim membership and badminton club, but when my gym membership ends next year I might try kickboxing again for a change.

Logged my first weightloss on myfitnesspal today after a week, 4lb! actually 4.5lbs, but they don't do fractions!
