I hope you got your lovely dog off safely on his holidays ww. I bet you can't wait until Tuesday. Do you plan to take your running shoes with you?
Hope your day worked out well sparkles. I think we're going to miss the Olympics after tomorrow.
Sorry to hear you're a bit achey pod, but if you start walking home from work that'll be good exercise for you. Running may come later. At least you're used to wearing trainers!;)
Good to hear you sounding more positive EH.
I went out to take my library books back but forgot to take them with me! I'll have to renew online and take them another day. I did enjoy potterng around our little local shopping centre though. I bought a lovely Next top in the CS. It's stretchy ecru lace with its own camisole underneath with long sleeves. I have a very similar one with a cap sleeve which is very useful. Princely sum of £1.50! Also got loads of fruit (strawberries, cherries, grapes) for my healthy eating plus other bits we needed. And I bought a new lippy in Superdrug nothing amazing, just Rimmel but it's a colour I like (sort of coral) and was delighted to see it hadn't been discontinued since I got the last one. That's what always seems to happen to me.
Hope everyone's having a good day. Still lovely here, warm but breezy.0 -
Late post from me. Finally watched the horizon programme you've all been on about. Very interesting and a bit of an eye opener. I wouldn't have thought the presenter was terribly overweight but when they were going on about his body fat. His didn't seem overly visible and it was still 27%. What on earth does that say about mine that IS most definately and totally visible
:(
Anyway me and H are interested in doing this so will get an idea what sort of rations we are looking at and then get started.
Sorry for not commenting individually its late and I've been glued to the divingI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Just a quickie to say hello and then goodnight.
Had my hair done today - it's a bit brighter than I would have liked. My hair must be quite dry and porous at the moment because it has really "grabbed" the colour and it is now a rather very vivid copper colour, rather than the delicate Jane Asher strawberry blonde I had last time. I'm not at all sure about it but I've had loads of compliments so maybe it's not as bad as I think it is.
I have been rather unwell today. I have been bitten to death by mozzies over the last few days. I don't know whether it is mozzie venom that is upsetting me or whether I have accidentally inhaled some weedkiller spray.
I was a bit careless with the weedkiller yesterday. I have a slight chemical burn on my face from the stuff. I wore rubber gloves but must have just brushed my hair away from my face and caught the skin with my hand. It's quite near my eye where the skin is very sensitive. I'm just thanking my lucky stars it wasn't my eye.
The burn is very slight and won't scar but it is very sore. I've never really used weedkiller before and I won't be in a hurry to use it again. If so I will definitely wear a mask over my nose and mouth and make sure I don't let it get near my skin.
We live and learn.:o
Bitsy - try not to worry too much about your BMI. Just take your time and get organised. I was really pleased about how easy I found my fast day. I shall do my next one on Tuesday. I didn't actually count calories today but I didn't go mad and just ate healthily.
WW - I had to smile rather ruefully when you said you now find 2.6 km a quick jog when at one time you could hardly run to the end of your road. I'm struggling to walk to the end of mine:o. Your progress with the running is amazing. You are very inspirational and I'm determined to make a start. I'm determined to get fitter.
If I feel better tomorrow I will go for a walk in the morning before I go out and join in the fun of my sister's 50th birthday celebrations. Then tomorrow night it's the Olympics closing ceremony.
G'night all X0 -
Good morning everyone.
LL - I felt quite up and down yesterday, particularly last night while watching the athletics and diving. I'm itching away at midge bites too, I must be tasty to those midges. Hope your skin calms down from the weedkiller too
As for me, feel better this morning and after I've got ready in a bit I'll be out with the dog for a walk, then see if I can drag myself out for a bike ride before finishing the cleaning off, meal planning for next week, finishing off the washing and so on.

Woken up to an empty dogless house and I hate it! Its surprising how much you miss something that doesn't talk (I miss him much more than I missed the exOH:rotfl:), just feel like I have too much time without the dogwalking and general faffing about. He's just company I suppose.:o
Anyway, its in a good cause, I'm off to the sun in a day or two.
Need to finish the ironing today and get stuff into a case, everything is clean and ready in piles so it shouldn't take too long. And yes Maman I will take my trainers but I'm not sure they'll make it out of the case! I will do plenty of swimming though.
Talking of swimming, I need to pop off to the pool for a quick session this morning.
A little female victory last night - the hoover has been playing up and cutting out after a few mins. I took it outside, took it completely apart cleaned all of it (not a nice job) and ta da! It works again! Now all I need to do is do the same to the washing machine - only joking! Its decided to not do a proper spin so things are coming out too wet - will investigate after the hols.
I'm going out tonight with 3 friends for a meal in a Lebanese restaurant - quite looking forward to it but the friend that booked it isn't very sporty and didn't realise that its the Olympics closing ceremony, oh well....will have to watch the highlights. I put some money aside for it from when I sold my engagement ring so its a "free" night moneywise.
LL - hope your face is a bit better today, be careful with those chemicals! You wouldn't say I was inspirational if you saw me wheezing my way round the streets, not looking very fab at all! (Makes you feel fab afterwards though!)
Right, I want to get a few jobs around the house and some schoolwork done today so better get going.
Hope everyone has a good day......0 -
Good Morning Everyone
Looks like a great day for my sister's party.
And ......I've lost 2lbs.:j That's with just one fast day and one ordinary day - no idea how many calories yesterday - just tried to be sensible.
Today obviously I won't worry too much - a party is a party after all - but I shall go easy on the carbs if I can but that's more because my tummy is happier if I leave them alone.
I notice there is a 5:2 thread here on the H&B forum. There is a lady called Just a Girl who has been intermittent fasting for a while. She is posting loads of tips and some before and after pictures - she wasn't gross to start with but her body looks lovely on the after pictures. She also mentions all her health benefits too.
WW - loving the little "female victory". I've been independent minded for a long time now - ever since my first marriage broke up. Husband No 1 was a bit of a control freak and very patriarchal - wouldn't even let me lose with a paintbrush - but now I have a go at most DIY and maintenance things. I'm pretty good now - even if I do say so myself.;)
Enjoy your Lebanese meal - I love Middle Eastern food. My friends sister married an Iranian - the food at their house was yummy. I think it's pretty healthy too.
Anyway off to start the day - Have a good one
PS WW - If I don't get the chance before Tuesday. "Buon Viaje". Hope you have a Fab time.0 -
LL, your hair probably looks lovely, the same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago when I dyed my hair dark brown for my OH's brother's wedding, it came out almost black with slight red hints. Got so many compliments I decided to keep it like this! I think it might be that the sun had lightened my hair so much it took much stronger than normal.
The 5:2 fast sounds interesting, I don't think I could manage it though, surely you have no energy to work etc?
I wasn't very good at the bbq Friday night!
I was good all day yesterday, then me and OH decided to go for a walk in the evening before dinner, ended up walking for ages as it was such a nice night, then ended up eating out as was quite late and we were miles from home and hungry! The only restaurant open in the little village was Italian, I thought, no problem, Ill have a salad - but they only did pizza and pasta, and their side salads involves mozzarella and oil, so I wound up having a veggie pizza as looked thyroid healthiest thing.
I was dreading putting it into myfitnesspal, but when I put my total off 100mins of walking in, in, it came out almost even, so hopefully not too bad, if you really can eat your exercise cals.
Off to a free preview screening of the new Bourne movie now - I love getting to see films for free! If you guys don't already know about them, there's a sticky on the freebies board, if you subscribe to that you'll know when there's codes for free tickets. You have to get in quick though.
I find I see films I might not otherwise have thought of as it's usually not the blockbusters, eg I saw the silent Oscar-winning film The Artist last year - so it often ticks the 'try something new' box.
Have agood day all, hope you haven't got the thunder we're having!0 -

I have just read back a few pages of this thread - you are all doing amazing stuff. So motivated! Just wondering how er... unfab.. is it ok to be and still join in.? I have been very unwell this year and have really not looked after myself well. I am beginning to feel clueless about looking my best and would love so help and inspiration.
I would really like to join as I have what I hope will be an exciting turning point this week. I have won a comp for a break in London and a hair cut and treatment at Charles Worthington.0 -
Prudent - course you can join in! No time like the present! Fab news about the wins - you get a headstart (no pun intended!) with the new hairdo! Its all about little steps - not marathon running or facelifts, just little things to make you look and feel better about yourself. Every little thing helps. Even painting your toenails or not eating that cake counts!
Just back from the pool - had to wait for 20 mins to get in as the lifeguard hadn't turned up. I'm a qualified lifeguard (from years and years ago) but apparently that doesn't count:rotfl:Had to wait with everyone else. Never mind, 50 lengths done in 30 mins so happy with that. Will allow me to scoff more tonight.;)
Just watching the marathon on the telly - maybe one day..... (not in the Olympics!). Nell McAndrew is my female hero - she's fit, gorgeous, a mother, does loads of charity work and is better than most of the men.
Lets get the 5K on Sept 2nd and the 10K in March done first:):)0
