Frump to Fab - Sizzling Summer Solstice to Awesome Autumn Equinox

The fast is going really well, no light-headedness, dizzy spells or ravenous hunger pains.
Had brunch about 11-00 and going to have supper in a moment.
Aiming for 600 cals max. I even have enough cals for a G&T if I fancy one later;) (55 cals gin and cal free tonic water)
I daresay purists would say no alcohol but I'm sure one won't hurt.
My thoughts are whilst the thought of long term deprivation fills me with horror, this fasting for a couple of days then normal sensible eating say 1600 to 1800 should be quite easy.
For me just 1200 cals every day would be torture:o. My fitness pal said I should aim for 1250 - I don't think I could stick to it tbh.0 -
LL - I'm actually thinking 1200 isn't too bad if you're a bit sensible with it. Ended up just under yesterday and that's before I even added in the extra I would have been 'allowed' because of exercise. That was for 3 meals and giving in to a piece of cheesecake at night
Today looks the same, am at about 1100 at the moment, don't feel hungry but am ok for a snack or a wee drink later on lol. I think it makes me more aware of what I'm having - eg I'm ok for a snack but not a full pack of biccies! Will see how long it lasts mind!
Did my second day c25k as well - feeling a bit achey now.0 -
LL I've done the 2 fasting days, did go over a bit and the other days have managed to stay below the 1500 cal mark and am not finding it too bad tbh. Have had just a couple of biscuits rather than the packet:rotfl::rotfl:, am just hoping I can keep it up.
WW Well done on the weight loss you must be really pleased with yourself and so you should be.:)
PP well done on starting cto2k. I've come to a standstill on that Think I'm too injury prone so am sticking to walking.Good luck with the cal counting too:)
Hi to everyone else hope you are all ok today and those feeling down are a bit brighter.
Had a good afternoon out with family yesterday- got to make the most of them now as DS3 won't want to come much longer I shouldn't think -it's not v. cool to be seen with your parents and kid sister at 16 is it? :rotfl::rotfl: We went to Ashford- in -the -water, fed the ducks and had a picnic tea.
On the downside DD1 is suffering again, doesn't want to get out of bed. She tried to get an appt at drs earlier but no joy, she doesn't feel like the medication is working and says she feels v. high or v. low and is beginning to think she has bi-polar disorder. Really don't know what to say to help. Am just worried that she may lose her job.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

I find 1200 quite doable usually - it automatically encourages you to eat lower carb and more protein and F&V. I sometimes eat some of my exercise cals (but not all) if I'm really hungry after swimming (the only exercise that makes me want to eat the sofa!).
I usually cheat on diets but seem to have stuck to this one - I think being really conscious of what you're eating helps - no free foods, points, syns etc just old fashioned cals to count.
Picked an icecream box full of blackberries this afternoon - going to give them to mum to turn into something scrummy like a crumble or tart. Naughty Woofer!
Finally got around to tidying the front garden - I mowed it yesterday but the horrible weeding and tidying bit got done today - I officially hate gardening, not my forte:mad: Think it has something to do with raging hayfever for years but I had no excuses today, it had to be done. Looks better though.
Doggy is off on his hols tomorrow - will really miss him, I hate the house without him, its too empty.:( As soon as I'm back from Ibiza I'll be down the motorway to get him.
On the positive side, I tried a work type dress on in Tescos today and a size 10 fitted fine! Couldn't decide if I liked the pattern though so left it for now, but it fitted:T:T0 -
I get emails from the Jillian Michaels (Shred woman) website most of which are usually deleted but this one was quite useful.....
7 Ways to Control Your Appetite
Don't skip meals. You should be eating three square meals a day, plus one snack, and spacing your meals throughout the day so that you don't go longer than four hours without eating. This will keep your blood sugar levels and hunger hormones stable.
Drink tons of water. When you feel as if you're starving, pour yourself a huge glass of water or grab a bottle of seltzer — it will help quell the urge to snack.
Sleep! Two hormones, leptin and ghrelin, regulate our appetite, and both are directly affected by how much sleep we get. These hormones work in a kind of "checks and balances" system to control feelings of hunger and fullness. Getting eight hours of shut-eye each night helps the hormones work properly, which in turn will help curb your appetite.
Examine your hunger. The next time you feel hungry between meals, consider the last time you ate. If it was less than three to four hours earlier, your stomach isn't growling, and you're not weak or tired, you're probably emotionally unsatisfied in some way rather than genuinely physically hungry.
Think about what, besides eating, soothes you. Steer yourself toward positive feelings of self-worth and you'll choose activities and behaviors that inherently contradict self-loathing and self-destructiveness.
Don't panic. You can and will lose weight. Even if you're eating a little more than the meal plan calorie allowance, you can still lose — it just might take a little longer. Exercise is also crucial. Working out harder and more often will help burn the extra calories you might take in if you have a bad day.
Do not beat yourself up! Sometimes we slip up, and that's okay — healthy living is not an all-or-nothing proposition.0 -
:Tto all of you doing the calorie counting or similar. It reads to me like a version of the 'mindful eating' that we've all been aiming for. What appeals to me is that you can do exercise and then eat it IYSWIM. I have a friend who has lunch at her mum's on a Sunday. OH and children go by car but she walks so she can indulge in a pudding!
I've had a good day today. Being Fab Friday and sunny, the white jeans came out again;). With my favourite navy Fat Face vest with lacy yoke and my JackieO Rayban sunglasses I felt really fab. DH and I had a day at the seaside, we went east as because although the best beaches are Dorset way we wanted to avoid traffic to the Olympic sailing. We had a good walk along the seafront, stopped for lunch and people watching (great table on a balcony) then headed inland to the countryside. I managed to shop for a few gifts and cards for some birthdays coming up. Topped up my tan a bit as well so all in all a lovely day.
Great news about the clothes 'try on' ww. I find Tesco really good for smart workwear. I got one of my favorite jersey dresses there last year. Very similar to the Reiss ones 'Waity Katy' wears. Thanks for the advice on outfits LL. I agree about the top to toe colour and heels. I need to do something about shoes. Because of the awful summer weather, I've only worn my (many) sandals away on holiday this year and haven't bothered to buy anything else. I've been getting by on a couple of pairs of ballet pumps for everyday wear. I did wear some (last year's) high patent wedges last week which were commented on. I think it's too late to bother for this year now but I'm going to think it through properly for the winter.
How long before Ibiza ww?0 -
Morning everyone, hope all are well today
My plans for today are to walk up to town, collect some sale clothes and see if they fit, walk back home, do some cleaning, tidy garden up, long dog walk, make a nice tea then watch the Olympics.
Have found a job to apply for so will spend some time on the application as the deadline is very soon.
And as maman reminded me, I think I'll put my white cropped jeans on for the first time and see how they look with a nice topfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Morning All,
Yesterday in work wasn't as bad as I thought.
Went out for mates leaving drinks last night, he's off to teach in china for a year. Got to bed at 5 and now suffering! Lots of water for me.
Eh xx0 -
Glad you had a good night out EH - it will help blow away the cobwebs - although if you get hangovers like me you won't be right until Monday:rotfl: I prescribe nurofen and diet coke (with a little bar of chocolate for medicinal reasons). I am a doctor so take my advice! (Well, a doctor of chemistry but surely that counts for hangovers????:p).
Maman - I'm off to Ibiza in the early hours of Tuesday morning - should be on the beach by 10.30. Mum can only meet me half way today to collect the dog though, I'd rather he stayed with me until Sunday but at least he's going somewhere he's happy and will get spoilt rotten whilst I'm away. Back in doggy joggy training when he gets back though! No fat pooches in this house! I'd call him portly or stocky at the moment but we're working on it!
Been for a walk with the dog in the park this morning and then did a quick 2.6K run (loop around where I live) - its funny that I think of that as a little jog now whereas a few weeks ago I couldn't run to the end of the road! If its cool enough this evening I may go again as I'll have no dog to walk.
For those of you running/walking/cycling, try this website to help you see how far you've been or to plan routes, I find it really helps.

Will dig something summery out to wear today, maybe a floral maxi tea style dress - will please mum if I wear a frock:rotfl:
Right I am a sweaty smelly lump so better get in the shower. Have a good sunny day!0 -
Hi all,
Lizzie - hope dd is feeling better soon. With ds, I think they go through a phase where it's uncool to be seen with the parents and then they come round again. My brother is still at home at almost 27 - he knows when he has it good :rotfl:
Maman - sounds like a lovely day out. I'm awful with shoes as well, tend to live in trainers - I have a few smarter boots for winter but not much for summer. Not keen on sandals.
Sparkles - good luck with the job application.
WW - hope doggy gets off ok, guess it will be a little quiet the next few days but at least you'll have some peace to get everything sorted for Tuesday? Hope you have a wonderful time x Have just been having a quick look on that site, worked out my route home from work is 2.5miles so 4km. Not too bad I guess - though can't imagine running all of it never mind another 1km on top of that!
Going to have a day off the exercise today I think, though have been lugging camera equipment round all morning which must count for a bit - wasn't fun, especially when I'm already achey from the last 2 days. Just back in now so might have an hour chill out and then start editing them0
