Do have a look on Tesco Customer service twitter feed - @UKTesco and look at some of the excuses! makes you wonder who they employ to make this stuff up!

Just had the dreaded cancellation emails.
We are very sorry for any disappointment this may have caused, but
hope that you choose to shop again soon with Tesco Direct.

Like hell I will. Actually I know I'll chance my arm time & time again as sometimes it does pay off. I managed to get 4 of those £2ish orange & green treasure chests a few weeks ago. I honestly though they'd be cancelled especially as they're back in stock at £9ish.

I've just checked the account I used for my cancelled orders and they definitely took the money out and no refund as yet.

I so cross, how can they get away with taking money for goods they can't provide.

I actually paid using my club card plus, which I'm now thinking of cancelling and doing my food shopping somewhere else.

What a complete waste of time. A terrible exercise in customer satisfaction.

I always thought that once payment had been taken they could not go back on a sale saying it was a price error as payment completes the contract?

Mobigos are showing at £49 now

Oh I'm not upset, weren't we all hoping a bit but not expecting much anyway for those prices?

I got the cancellation text today too, came in plenty of time for me not to go and try to get it, but my order status doesn't say cancelled yet. I expect it will, but if not I'll give them a call and see if it's in at the weekend.

It would have been nice but the transaction isn't complete until they hand you the goods is it, so for now I just have an undone deal.

That's another set of emails to say EVERY order I placed has been cancelled! I am happy for those that have received something (lucky you) but am appalled at the fiasco that Tesco has created, they have not done themselves any favours as this will only agrivate customers even more! I am finding Tesco's more and more expensive, yes they have a good clubcard system but that is about it! I will have no qualms shopping elsewhere!
  • Sorry so many missed out. I got lucky and have 3 sets of Scalextric to collect, had confirmation emails and yodel tracking, so just need to collect it.
    Thanks OP.

I think we all need to remember the sheer volume of orders placed and the obviously minimal stock. The Scalextric went out of stock for the first time before 9.15pm on tuesday, yet I was able to place orders for it well afterwards after it was restocked. I am only receiving my first order. I think Tesco system has a stock level glitch when in high demand, but also something must have gone wrong with a price database to cause so many items to be reduced at such a random amount. Tesco need to sort this.

However, I do also think that there is only so much they can do on the system side fo things, as it is very rare that so many people will be ordering so much so quickly. We did break the store collection system remember.

What tesco need to do is to sort out the price issues, and if they do that, then there would be no price glitches for anyone to benefit from.

So as frustrating as it is, any improvements to the system will just mean less opportunities for glitches like these. I think having the attititude of some on here of "if I get one I get one, if I don't no bother" is the right one. Lets face it, if any of us where planning to buy the Hogwarts Castle, we would be prepared to pay the full price anyways, most people only ordered because it was cheap. And if we couldn't afford the full price, we wouldn't get worked up about it, we would just decide not to have it.

So lets sit back, think about the bigger picture, these are toys, there are other places that sell bargain toys it is not the end of the world, however frustrating it may be that the service from Tesco is so bad.

However, I do think they need to sort the payment/refund system as this does cause real headaches for us.

So remember, if they improve the system to much, there won;t be any glitches for anyone, so take what you can and move on.

And yes, I appreciate this is easier for me to say when I have got to collect 3 packs of Scalextric, but this is the first Direct glitch out of many I have had since they bought in the new system.

I understand where you are coming from chipmunk but when I ordered I didn't know about any glitch. Plus some of the items on my order if you look under the gifts section rather than the toys section it shows you a genuine price markdown.

If I knew they werent going to fulfil my order I'd have kept my money for more lelli Kelly's in the John Lewis sale but as it stands I may see my money in about a week! Hmm!
