Parking Eye help needed!

Hello, I parked in a car park the other day, and my family missed their ferry and got on the next one 30min later. Rather than driving around, I waited 30min in a car park to watch the ferries from my car and figured if anyone came around I would move my car. Anyway thought everything was fine, then a week later I got a £150 fine from Parking Eye for parking in the car park. They have photos of me entering and leaving the car park, but not sure how they prove I didn't pay for a ticket, plus I thought it wasn't illegal as technically I wans't parked as I was in my car all time - if I pay the fee in 10 days its half price, plus I'm a complete novice and law abider, so all recommendations are V V welcome

Jeez they want £150 , now that is definitely an illegal penalty, this will never ever ever go to court as their loss would be impossible to explain at that level. Parking Eye are pathetic the best advice to follow is to ignore them and their attempts to extort money from you.
They will go away with their tails between their legs, it won't effect your credit rating, they won't send the boys around, and I can tell you now it won't go to court. And by the way its not a fine, just unenforceable invoice.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Nope, you did NOT get a fine at all. There is no penalty, no debt, no effect on your credit rating and there will be no Court or CCJ or anything.
Do not pay and do not be fooled into thinking there is an appeals procedure either - it's just a phishing procedure for their benefit to gain information to scare you even more. It's all just a scam.
Just start ignoring all this junk mail like we all do - and look here to be sure it's not just us strangers on a forum telling you that this is just a scam and to ignore it completely:

That's a solicitor on Watchdog and his advice relates to ANY Private Parking Company (PPC) fake PCN.
http://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/5isk3-hi-overstayed-berkley-precinct-car-park-ecclesall-rd.html
A barrister on the second link says ''This is a private land fine. They are unenforceable. This is not a parking fine however it may look. These companies are private firms that have no more right to punish you for the manner of your parking than your neighbour does. Only the police or the local Council can do that.''
If you look at the third from top thread 'PPC letters & threats' on this parking forum you will find preview pics of the letters that each PPC uses. See my signature for how to get back to the main thread list and see the top threads. The letter preview pics are in the third thread down.
Just play snap with the letters; they will match our pics, honestly!
There are no repercussions, as long as this is not a company car you can just ignore all the letters you will receive in the absence of real sealed Court papers (which will never come). The letters are as per our sticky thread and are all just hot air, waste of paper. It really is easy to ignore these scammers - some posters here have ignored dozens of fake PCNs from Parking Eye!
Don't even think about contacting them or paying this scam!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello,
Firstly, its not actually a fine, its an invoice to settle an alleged debt in lieu of breach of contract.
Also, its not illegal to park on private land.
How much were the parking fees at the car park? You technically owe them 30 mins worth of parking fees.
What you DON'T legally owe them is any kind of trumped up charge for breaking their 'rules' such as £75 or £150.
What you need to do is to ignore the invoice, and ignore all the follow up scary letters threatening court, CCJs, bad credit ratings, kidnap of your cat, etc. Eventually when they realise that you now know that legally you don't owe them any more than 30 mins worth of parking fees, they will give up and go away.
Do some reading of the threads on this forum for more info and reassurance.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Manx,
I have to disagree. I don't think the OP parked, I think they were waiting and owe nothing.
Cheers.0 -
Semantic and completely irrelevant point. Parked, waiting, whatever. Doesn't make the PCN any more relevant or enforceable.AltheHibby wrote: »Manx,

Cheers.
Was the engine running? For 30 minutes?
Its irrelevant anyway.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
If it was a hot day I would happily have left the engine running for 30 minutes in order to keep the air conditioning on.
Either way it's not a fine, you didn't break any law, you will not go to court. Do not contact the company, just ignore everything they send you and get on with your life. Absolutely do not pay them anything!0 -
you have recieved a PARKING charge notice=not legit/not backed by law/scam/fiddle/con,,,only a PENALTY charge noitice is legit, issued by police/traffic warden, you do not have this,it equates to loo paper, so when you have finished doing what you usually do with loo paper, simply press flush and forget it and all threat o grams to follow, parking spy cannot fine anyone as have zero powers to do so,relax, chill feet up, job is a real good un innit.0

He has already said that he was in Southampton, so this scenario is unlikely to say the least!Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Cheers for all the advice. Wow this has made my day, was pretty depressed to get the letter through the door. How come the DVLA give them your address then, thats the only thing that worries me a bit?
It actually was a hottish day, a rarity in the UK, but I had my window open and the engine off! The car park could take about 200 cars but there were about 10 taken up, because of the ridiculous prices.
Will view the You Tube - I do remember watching some programme once, like rouge traders, where they were investigating these people. Makes me angry that these scummers have set up a company like this - what c*&"$0
