Pity it is just a though.... skint myself so could not post the food.
I was on JSA for a year with a large GS and 4 cats and if not for my daughter - would have been posting a thread like yours so believe me I really understand0 -
Do they eat dry food at all? Or just tins?0

It's mainly wet food, but some go cat too.The Daleks Reign Supreme, All Hail The Daleks!0

I'm sorry for the situation, me my partner and our three kids have been on JSA for a while now too. It seems like jobs are non existent at the minute so I can sympathize. Sounds like you have tried everything and honestly as much as moving would help even if you found a place to live moving costs would likely wipe out any help it gave you. The only thing I could think of is to apply to the council for a council property which would be a lot more inline with housing benefit however as a single person you would likely only qualify for a bedsit.
I would advertise the cats in the paper and thoroughly vet everyone who asks about them. If you can have them with you for as long as possible, shelters are so full right now that there is a good chance you cats, who unfortunately are getting on a bit, would just be overlooked for any younger ones the shelter has. If you can put them in the free ads papers, leave a notice up in the PDSA / RSPCA / Pet shops. Just make sure that you find them a good home.
I know this sounds mean but is it possible you could afford one if you re-homed the other? If they don't get along anyway... I think you will be very lonely without them both and I think we can all see this is a last option for you not something you are pleased with. maybe rehousing one would be easier and make the other more affordable.Bankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -
Please do NOT try to rehome your cats via free ads, if it comes to that (hope not) pls try Purrs or Animal Lifeline (gave you links before but here they are again)

OP - someone in Yorkshiere is looking for 2 cats - pls have a look. Purrs goes from the bottom so the first post is right on the bottom of the thread:

OP, posts like yours really make me sad, I am sorry you are having such an awful time of it. Like GR I have a cupboard full of dry food, and some wet which my fussy gang will not eat....but it's not really practical to post such things sadly.
But I would echo what someone suggested above about posting on Freecycle and Freegle to see if there are others near you who have cat food that they are happy to donate.
Personally I would move them onto all dry....but one a bit better than Gocat..and save money on buying wet.0 -
I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time of it
Exactly what wet food will your cats eat (I'm asking for a good reason, not just being nosey)

Lidi in jelly.
All felix's. (inc gravy)
Occasionally Claude but only in gravy.
Whiskas - but only supermeat tins (or oh so fishy - which is too expensive with only 8 in a box!)The Daleks Reign Supreme, All Hail The Daleks!0
