I bought an Epicare about 18 months ago. The first time I used it I found it very painful and threw it in the drawer. I found it again a few months later and tried again - it wasn't so bad as I knew what to expect. I now use it intermittantly on my upper lip.
It is very good for the fine hairs but I find it doesn't get out all the dark hairs and I have to go over the area with tweezers.
Regrowth is no different than if you plucked or waxed.0 -
Does anyone else suffer from the so-called downy hair on the cheeks being long?
I suffer from the obligatory tache which fortunately is blonde, but the fine hair on my cheeks is really long - at least 1cm - and so i have to use the beard trimmer attachment on my husbands shaver to keep it trimmed
I've tried using veet/nair but have ended up burnt/very red, not had the guts to try my epilator yet though :eek:0 -
I read this thread the other day and it made me dig out my epilator. It did come with a face hair removal bit as well as legs, and bikini line. I too suffer with downy fine blond hairs on my cheeks, any way I have just given it a go and you cannot feel it at all on the cheeks, I don't know why I have not been using it!
The top lip did sting a bit, but after watching the video clip for the epicare and the lady pushing her tongue into her lip to make it firmer definitely did help,
I have just started to wear make up and the powder always seems to exaggerate the fine hairs. So tomorrow I am looking forward to putting on my face to see the results now I have taken off the down.0 -

Dont use powder, try mineral foundation, makes a huge difference as it contains no talc0 -
just been looking at epicare on ebay
branded ones are more expensive than non-branded ones.
do they both do the same job?
just wondered if anyone has tried either and what results are
thanksNice to save.0 -
I've only ever used the non-branded ones and they works fine, probably just as well as the branded one. The non-branded ones tend to be Asian/Chinese and they've been using the threading method for years, I'm wondering if Epicare has taken their idea and branded it?
Regrowth with the epicare is just normal the same as waxing etc if anything I've found the regrowth to be a bit finer over time. It can be a bit painful the first time you use it so it may be best to perhaps start with your cheeks so you know what to expect then work your way over to the top lip.
I think I might buy the official epicare next time to see if it's any different. When I first bought one I didn't want to pay £10 incase it didn't work that's why I just got one of the cheaper ones.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I use the nose hair scissors to do the hair on my upper lip, it's still quite fine, but some of them are getting darker, so I just take the ends off, not too close or it will look stubbly, but enough to cut down on any darkening of my upper lip area caused by dark hairs.
I do have one 'whisker' that grows every couple of months, it feels really thick and I'm very concious of it, so it gets plucked as soon as I can get a hold of it.
I use the nose hair scissors to trim inside my nose, they're available from Boots and sometimes Asda/Tesco, don't hurt and I don't need to do them too often.
I'm 39, so the hair fighting seems to have begun quite recently for me. MY eyebrows seem to grow at an alarming rate, and I even found a long thin white hair growing in the middle of one of my eyebrows!!Tweezers got that one pronto.

I have PCOS and very dark hair:eek:
From 16 I had electrolysis for a couple of years on my top lip, but it did not solve the problem. For the following 25 years I bleached (Jolen) but then as DD seemed embarressed about having a mum with moustache I took to waxing. Did this at home for about a year, a painful, messy and "furtive activity".
Then started going to a beautician which seven years on I still do - £12 for lip and chin and go every 2.5 weeks. Timing is everything to me and if I have something important to go to I make sure my waxing is done a couple of days before.
I really hate all this, and would consider laser treatment, however I have keloid scarring in a few places and worry that my face may scar from the laser.
Without all this I really would be a circus freak:o0 -
You are right Spirit, it really is a 'furtive activity'. I only whip off the hairs on my upper lip with my epilator when my O/H isn't around. It's mad really as all women have unwanted hair somewhere or another to deal with, yet we are all so secretive about it.0
