Can anyone recommend a good place for laser hair removal in or near Cambridge? Have looked at about 3000 websites and they all seem to be much of a muchness - has anyone had a particularly good or bad experience to pass on and help me out!

Had electrolysis (and some other beauty treatments) years ago (when i worked in Cambridge) at Janet Martin which is a salon on Castle Hill. They were very good but ive never had laser treatment but no doubt they do it! The fact that theyve been around over twenty years must say something? Hope that helps.
  • I had it done a couple of years back and can honestly say despite 4 treatments that were recommended, it made no difference. was really disappointed.
  • Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I put Veet under one of my arms the other day and it didn't do anything!
It was on for 7 minutes and the hair was totally untouched  . Have I got superstrong hair or does this cream go off after a while? Just thought I'd try it for a change as I usually shave my 'pits for quickness.

I'm considering buying an epilator mainly for bikini line use, any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

I am in theory the best candidate for laser hair removal, light skin, dark hairs. I have had about 12 treatments and although it seemed to be working, 18 months on, there really isn't that much difference. Treatments were £60 a go and I cannot afford to keep doing it, when the results are not certain.

I tried electrolysis for years and then waxing. Now I find shaving with a decent men's electric is the best way fro me and my skin under the chin is no longer full of red marks etc from the waxing, electrolysis and laser.

Ouch! I tried using an epilator on my bikini line but it bled, so I just use for arms and legs now.

That old question again! I have tried all kids of shavers, creams, self waxing strips, buffing (Babyliss Simply Smooth) and nothing seems to work with my hair. It grows back by that afternoon =/

I tried a local salon a few weeks back who professionally waxed my pins and they were amazing! stayed smooth for a few weeks and then when the hairs started growing back you couldnt even see them!! ...they're now at the stage where they need doing again. I dont want to shave them as i'll be back at square one with them prickly.

A friend said to me that getting an epilator is the same as waxing? its pulling the hairs out from the root. I cant afford to go back to salon every few weeks to get my legs done so I see this as a good alternative (if it works!) I can grab the little demons before they grow back!

Does anyone recommend a really good epilator? I have about £95 in boots points to spend! I had a look yesterday and just got confused by all the choices. what do they all do?! whats difference between a £30 one and a £60 one?

I agree epilator - but it hurts at first and if you have sensitive skin you might end up with pink skin so do them the day before you want to show them off! It is a little time consuming too, depending on how hairy you get before you use it ;)

I have a really old one so can't recommend anything up to date - mine is Phillips and has been going for about 10 years!

Hairs grow back really fine as you are plucking them out so it is new hair (not like shaving, cream or buffing).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • I have just recently started using an epilator and am very impressed. Mine is a Babyliss and was only £14.99 from Currys around 4 - 6 weeks ago. I would recommend it.
