Do the epilators hurt - my 12 year old daughter wants me to buy her the bleaching kit for her legs but don't really want to go down that route just yet - not sure if I want her to start hair removal at all ....... makin me feel so old !!!
won't mind trying the epilator myself if it doesn't hurt much thoIf someone ain't smiling, give them one of yours !!!0 -

I use the Phillips Satin Ice, had it a couple of years and still going strong. I dont use the ice bit now as Im so used to it and I didnt think much of it when I did use itBut I think the satin is one of the more "gentle" ones (if there is such a thing
) and I do use it on the bikini area no problems

Dont look at it as getting old, look at it as a way of enjoying your teens all over again - trying new make up, skin care, hair removel etc etc. I love being Aunt to a teenage girl, we get to do girly bits together
At 12 your daughter is under a lot of peer pressure to shave, esp after those gym sessions where hair is obvious. I remember my mum saying i was too young at 12 so what did I do? used my dads electric razor, the one with the spiral heads, and ended up cutting my underarms to shreds
Bleaching sounds like a good alternative to shaving. Or how about silky mitts? I used those in my teens and they do a good job at removing leg hair without cutting.
As to the epilator, well yes they do hurt, especially the first time. I personally dont find them too painful, no more so then having a professional wax done. I just prefer the epilator for convenience. The knack is to hold your skin as taught as you can when using it. And you have to exfoliate daily to keep the ingrown hairs at bay. You will have chicken skin for at least a day afterwards but then you should be hair free for about 3 weeks.0 -
Thanks Suki. I actually bought one on ebay today saving myself about £15.hippiegal wrote:Do the epilators hurt0

Frozen peas do work as does a bottle of wine!!!
Although not recommended for a 12 year old (the wine, not the peas)!!!!0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I mentioned the epilator to her and got an instant NO WAY!! - gonna try the silky mitts for my daughter & the epilator, wine & peas for me !!!If someone ain't smiling, give them one of yours !!!0

I must be a complete wimp - as I found the epilator hurt like hell. Thats was just on my legs, I think I would have passed out if I'd attempted my bikini line.
Perhaps I should bite the bullet and give it another go. I'll try the wine and peas as well.
I found the ingrown hairs really painful also.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Its the first time i'd seen these disc's in action, either last night or the night before on a shopping channel ? they were doing someone's legs with em so maybe its not the same as the OP was referring to
I've no idea how much it was tho, i was cringing to much to notice, not really my idea of pampering your self :eek:Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

Perhaps not really moneysaving but has anyone tried the more permanent methods such as Epilight?
Did it work? Did it save money in the long run?0
