Thanks for this already booked my consultation for friday. Using my tesco points though, works out £260 towards treatment in clubcard and save about £120 with 30% off so better using clubcard points. thanks anyway.

Brilliant find! Been thinking about getting some laser hair removal for ages but it always seemed expensive - I'll check this skin clinics offer out, looks great value though. Didn't realise they had so many branches, presumed I'd have to go to London but they've got one in Brighton now, which is ace.0

I'm thinking about having intense pulsed light hair removal in my bikini line. My questions are:
1. Is it worth spending all that money at a salon? Is the hair removal really permanent? How many treatments are necessary?
2. Does it get rid of bikini stubble? I have olive skin and my hair is very dark and thick. Shaving leaves my skin very irritated and red. Shaving creams don't work and waxing is not very effective either (I get stubble the next day).
3. Can you recommend an after waxing gel or similar (alcohol free)? I tried two from Sallys, but they were not alcohol free and didn't help at all. I would be prepared to pay a bit more for something of very good quality.
4. What about those intense pulsed light gadgets sold at Argos and Boots? The ones from Argos had very bad reviews; the one on the Boots website had very positive reviews but it costs £250. As I'm not sure it the Boots one would work on me, I would be nervous to spend that much money on it.
Many thanks0 -
I've had Epilight treatment on my face and also some on my bikini line. It is expensive and you need multiple sessions as you have to catch the hair growth in different cycles to make it permanent.
It only works on dark hairs and I think they said that it may not be suitable for darker skin, as the light is attracted to dark - so it may damage/discolour your skin. So be careful and do your homework before embarking on any light or laser treatment.
It is a bit painful and you have to brace yourself for each "blast"! It really made me jump each time, when I was having bikini line done. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to keep going for my bikini line, so it's grown back.
I had loads of epilight treatment on my face and neck (and I am not even that hairy really) but since finishing the course I could afford, about 2 years ago, I still have a problem with hairs and I still have to wax/pluck and so on.
So personally, I don't think it was worth all the money for me.
Unless I was stinking rich and could continue going regularly (and I doubt I ever will be rich!!) I wouldn't have Epilight treatment again.
Hope that helps

go to boots website, and there is a 'test' you can take to see if it is suitable for you. I am using it at the moment, and i can see some progress in the areas that i am treating (i think they state it can take upto 6 weeks for full hair removal at one treatment per week, but you will notice it after about 3-4 depending on hair/skin colour/type). You have to buy the cooling gel (machine comes with one tub, which should be enough to treat your bikini area several times), and it is better if you store in the fridge, but its not too uncomfortable. Does take quite a bit of time to treat large areas tho.0

Hi,
There is a thread on here about the boots smooth skin system, very imformative definetly worth a read if you are considering. Alot of poeple have had alot of success with it. I have used it for about 7 weeks on underarms, hair went finer but didn't dissapear, although you are supposed to do 12 weeks I haven't had time for past month or so and I'm sure it has been getting coarser since I stopped. I also did three weeks on bikini line and hair went much finer. Need to find the time to start using it again!

Evening All,
Never posted here before I need some advice!!
I bought an epilator when there was 1/3 off but I think I may have wasted my money as it doesn't seem to work
I used the wipes that came in the box but they didn't seem to have made a difference, I don't know what I'm doing wrong - How should epilation be done right?!
My legs also have quite visable pores but now, after using my epilator a couple of times they seem alot more prominent and my legs feel stubbly due to my raised pores & well, stubble!
I thought it would be an investment (not having to buy razor blades or shaving gel) but I think I might throw it into a box to never see the light of day again!
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I confess to epilating. It was part of a big MSE drive about 3 years ago as waxing in salon every few weeks was costing a fortune.
I bought one from Boots for about £20.
It took ages to get the hang of it and I now know which bits of me could take the tweaking pain and which couldn't.
Legs; persevere with the legs as eventually, the hairs get really thin, almost invisible.....and no pores either. I had pore marks at first but don't get them now..perhaps I killed them off?
Armpits took a while to get the hang of. They have to be stone dry. Wipes and talc sprays don't work for me either.....nothing grips. You also have to put arm right over back of neck (like a tricep stretch) to get a clear run at it. Now, same as legs, hair really fine, no stubble at all.
Bikini; OMG:eek:. I gave up The Brazilians as they were salon waxed and tried with epilator...I can't write down the problems with skin catching bla de bla but a bit of leg edge is all I can take.
I bought some home wax strips from Boots own make and they are OK ish but I can't 'do' a salon wax at all. Taught OH how to do it but he gets distracted and he doesn't finish the job.:o
For epilating skin must have no cream or moisturiser on it at all....bone dry and oil free.0 -
I have epilated for a few years and bought a cheap panasonic cost £7.50 from the QVC outlet and have never had any problems. I decided to treat myself and purchased the new Braun one that was about £66.00, have done my legs and underarms no problem. My bikini line is another story, I have managed tonight to catch my skin on both legs and have these little blood blisters. Tomorrow we are off for a 3 day break to a hotel and hubby was looking forward to using the pool and all the facilities. There is no way i will be going swimming as it looks as if I have a rash.0

This may be a daft question but does it hurt? I've thought about epilating because I hate shaving, I shave most bits every other day and it's really annoying! I'm not doing it if it hurts though, that's why I don't wax!
How often do you have to do it? Is it more often at first? Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies
