Am just about to start laser hair removal on my legs.
Lots of places seem to do it, I don't know if there is a governing body you should look out for. I think I'd aim to go to a more medical place rather than just a beauty salon, but that's just personal preference.

Was the treatment performed at a specialised clinic?

Sorry, I don't know the details.

I'd go along with never enough's idea of a more medical approach. The therapist at a clinic local to me has had training with the British Medical Laser Association - https://www.bmla.co.uk/

Oh and also I found that to start with I had really bad ingrown hairs but the solution to that is to buy an exfoliating mitt like this http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=38242&callingViewName=&langId=-1&catalogId=11051
and do it every night if you can be bothered. It takes away dead skin and lets the hair grow back through easily rather than ingrowing then moisurize

Thanks for this tip - I went and got some of these last night and they are AMAZING. My legs have never been so soft! They are seriously as soft as my face now.

Anyone thinking about these - try them.

Hi my dd is 11 and off to high school soon, she is really conscious of her thick dark eyebrows and hairy legs.
I just wondered what age girls normally start plucking/shaving and what is the best way for her young skin. I was told to be careful about certain hair removal methods as they can be damaging to the skin.
A couple of her friends are using veet and I was quite surprised as Im sure I started at a much later age (but then my mother was really against it)
    thanks

I think I was a similar age when I started shaving my legs as I got teased at school about my hairy legs, probably a couple of years older when I started plucking my eyebrows (first attempt was erm interesting!).

I can't imagine that plucking and shaving would be too problematic so long as you make sure she moisturiseses afterwards. I'm not so sure about veet I suppose you would need to make sure that she does a patch test first. I think skin can be very sensitive at that age I remember when my mum first bought me deo, we had to go back to the shops and buy some for sensitive skin!

my 12 year old daughter started shaving her legs a few months ago, probably because of peer pressure/playground banter etc.

My other daughter is 16, she reckons she has to pluck her upper lip every day and finds it really painful, I've never noticed her upper lip being over hairy, but she is VERY sensitive about it, she has thick hair and brows. She also had THE hairiest arms ever, but started shaving and they have become thinner.

I had really hairy arms as a kid, used to shave them, not that bothered now, luckily we become less concerned with others opinions with age!

thanks frames1_uk, DD also is quite hairy and as she is half Italian they are very dark. Think I will have to go with her wishes before she starts high school then just got to decide which method is best.
    Thanks for your replies
