    I've been Money Tipped!

Hello all! These weekends go fast don't they?!

I was going to pop back late Friday eve with my progress until I opened my post from HSBC regarding my PPI. They said "having searched their records extensively they could not find any evidence of PPI on my accounts" Fibbers!

They can't have looked that far because I did a lot of investigating myself on Fri and managed to find the full policy number & details, even found & printed the statement where it was taken as a lump sum. Also looking into it, I originally thought it was around £135 however it turns out I paid a LOT more than that!

I spend Friday night updating my PPI questionnaire and resending it again with the "further evidence" included. Hopefully they don't come back with any delay tactics.

Seems everyone had a pretty productive weekend one way or another! Lots of progress, bit of sunshine too!

So yet another 1% paid off today taking us up to 4% now. I'm not kidding when I say if it wasn't for this thread, I would at best be at 1% in the same time frame (from paying minimums) so a big thanks to little miss for sorting this out!!

It's a pleasure! It makes it exciting to get to my next 1% and check in and see how everyone else is doing! It's your hard work that pays the %'s

  • Evening all......another lurker here :D

Been following this thread for a bit and thought it was time I joined in all the fun!

I've been ambling along with my debt for a while now and never seem to get anywhere. I'm dropping some hours at work (2 days a month) in September and I need to streamline my finances so I don't get in a pickle. I really should have started this last September when I requested the reduction in hours but its only just hit me that my pay will drop soon!

In March I did manage to cancel a couple of direct debits so have already been saving £30 a month but I never put that aside, it just got spent. Anyway, its hit me now and since I discovered this thread I've:
    • changed energy supplier (saving £29 per month)
    • changed broadband supplier (saving £29.37 per month)
    • cancelled gym (saving £31.78 per month)
    • reduced phone insurance by ringing to cancel (saving £5 p.m)
    • rang to cancel LoveFilm and they're offered me 4 months free (saving £5.99 p.m) But I'll cancel in November :rotfl:
    • discovered I was paying 2 lots of phone insurance so had a rebate of £78 and will save £6 p.m.
    • started a spending diary.
    • listed loads of stuff on ebay (up to £70 so far).
So lots in the pipeline to be saved when I get paid on Thurdsay. As soon as I'm paid, I'll put the money I would have spent to my store card and pay that off first. Then I need to sort out a budget for the rest.

    Anyway, my 1% is £53

Thanks to everyone on this thread for the inspiration and thanks to the OP for starting it. I've become obsessed with saving money and getting my debts paid off once and for all!

I read somewhere on MSE that every penny is a prisoner!! My new mantra!

    Night all. :)

    Morning all

Thanks for updating the list Little Miss, I'm glad to be amongst the ranks!

Listed all my items on eBay last night and got around 25 watchers altogether so far - looking forward to seeing how much I make!

I downloaded the Quidco app yesterday and have so far managed 50p in check ins. Its such a easy thing to do whilst out shopping and as I work on a high street as well, I think this will be topped up daily!

Well done everyone on their weekend endeavours.

I've been watching this thread for a few weeks now and I didn’t want to join until my savings were a nice round number, they aren’t just yet – theyre £8065, but I will pay that off this month to get it down to a nice round £8000 (well not so nice, it is still £8k after all!) but my % will also be £80, which is my major debt – a cc – and needs to be paid off as much as poss by December when the 0% runs out and the poop really will hit the fan! I aim to get it into the 4’s by Dec, £4000 odd I mean not £4 (ha I wish!)….this month I have ebayed like a demon and the end of July payment is scheduled to be £515 which will take me down to £7550 which will be 5.62% (5% to round down) payment comes out next Monday so I shall be shading off 5 boxes off my grid then – something to look forward to – jeez im sad!!!

£80 is my 1% and so far i have a bit fat zero, but not for long!!!

Will have a pimms after work to celebrate!!!

Enjoy the sun peeps and ill stay in touch – such an inspiring thread thanks!!

Well nothing specific to report, not transferred my £6 odds profit from paypal yet, need to do that tonight.

Counted up my coppers and silver jar, think there was about £20 bagged up. Needing a few more 20p's and a few more 1's and 2's to make up full bags, dithering wether to hold on or cash in what i have just now. Doesn't really make a difference I suppose, should just get on with it :rotfl:

Not managed to do a whole lot to save %'s, just trying to stop spending so I don't add %'s :rotfl:

Good luck everyone, keep up the good work!!!
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
  • Weekend progress:

Lots of things listed on Ebay to take advantage of the free weekend, including one of my old uni textbooks which other people have listed at £195! I only paid £60 (severe discount) so hoping to make some money there.

My cashforclothes sack arrived so need to fill that and get it collected

Still trying to find the paperwork for my graduate loan and credit cards to see if i can get some PPI back.

So still at 0%, but lots of work in progress!

Also, does anyone know is there any way of getting some money for foreign coins. I literally have about £20 worth in a million different currencies after travelling but the horrible banks don't take coins....
