Well, here goes. Went back to the dentist yesterday and the total cost for a smile makeover is £16,000, yep you did read that correctly sixteen flippin thousand

    so a 1% for me is £160

I almost fell off the chair in shock and that is pretty much only for the top teeth and some remedial work, it will be another £11 to get the bottom ones done. Thank goodness for a free listing weekend that I will get onto tomorrow. Most of the items have already been photographed and the text written so should just be a cut and paste job.

A while ago I bought a hanging manequin thing so will see if it makes any difference to the price I get for clothes if they look more professionally presented.

Away to get ready to spend the afternoon in Edinburgh and go to see Madonna tonight so will be spending a couple of % rather than saving but tomorrow is another day.

Well done to everyone who is hitting targets already, I am hoping to catch up with you and will keep a spreadsheet to keep myself on track.

Had a massive sort out yesterday and managed to pack up pretty much the entire house (with a lot of help from my mum :p). I threw bin bag after bin bag of stuff away, I probably could've sold some of it, but most of it was just rubbish and I'm sort of running out of time! It does feel good to finally have sorted out my stuff and been practical with what I actually need though :) Plus I have almost 4 big bin bags full of things for the charity shop :) they're mainly clothes that wouldn't stand a chance at selling on ebay, things I've already tried on ebay and then bigger things that would be too much hassle with postage. I also have an ebay bin bag though that I'll be taking to the new house and putting on ebay once we're there! And we have a couple of computer screens that we don't need, so I think we're going to stick them on gumtree and see if we can get anything for them.

    Hi all! It's Friiiiidaaaay! excited2.gif

You were on the list from the start :D You're no 45!

    Little Miss xx

Number 45 reporting in for duty Miss.

I've just listed some books on GreenMetropolis and Amazon.
I can't understand how you can make money on GM though. They charge a blanket £3.75 per book, and you get £3.00 of it. Out of that you pay for the P&P, which they estimate as £2.20 for a small paperback - leaving you 80p if it is a small book, less or negative if it's thicker.
I guess you have to weigh up if you'd get more against the 1p sales on Amazon as the buyer pays the P&P.
Maybe if I've not sold them after 3 months I can swap them over.

It's a free listing weekend for any item for £1 or more on e-bay, up to 100 items, so that is the next thing on the ToDo list. I think I will take the hit on the timed listings, otherwise they are going to be starting at some very weird times, and not get as many watchers.

    Hi all,

Made 0.5% on ebay and 0.2 % on Amazon so nearly my first per cent :)

Have found 30 other items to sell but no camera here to take photos so i'll have to wait to list them. But fingers crossed some of them will sell.

Lots of it I just wish i'd never bought in the first place though.

Anyway, have a lovely weekend everyone.

Ok, I admit it, been lurking on this thread for ages, and been thinking of all the ways I could make my 1%. Such a fantastic thread!

I'm putting my hat in and setting up 2 funds. My first 1% is at £40 which is from a loan from my parents which has no deadline but I feel enough is enough and has to be paid back sooner rather than later! Mt second fund has 1% at £30. This is saving for an awesome holiday next year to celebrate my OH's 35th and my 30th.

I figure I'll alternate 1%'s so £40 first then £30 then £40 etc. I want to split the two as in My head £70 sounds a lot harder to do so I'm breaking it down to make it more manageable on myself.

So far I've got 1% of fund one and have just listed my items to sell on eBay with their free listing weekend. My account is limited to 10 items a month so I picked out the best pieces. These should be the first 1% on fund two. I've got some furniture on Gumtree too so I'm hoping for my second £40 there.

I'm excited about the road ahead to be honest, can't wait to see the %'s start to add up!

  • Messy mare - That's a really good idea - might use that idea for my food budget as well as always end up with stuff being wasted, plus am planning meals too!

Have listed lots on eBay - but it's a slow process waiting for listings to end - have 30 items listed and 2 are selling already which is good! Still plenty more to list. Have lots of CDs left that music magpie and zapper don't want so have listed them on eBay - does anyone have any other suggestions for these - amazon seem to charge a lot of fees!

Speak soon - I feel very inspired by all of your comments and ideas!
