  • Glad you sorted out that toy Sarah, I hate taking things back to the stores but I'm finding that things aren't made as well as they used to be as companies cut costs to to boost profits. Just last week we had to take back a pair of PJ's Bailey had worn twice as the seam had ripped. In all honesty I'd rather pay the little bit more to be guaranteed a better product.

Going to see if I can eBay a few bits and bobs to make up the funds for the car excess as you all seem to be doing quite well with eBay sales at the minute!

  • Well done all.

got to somehow balance paying off debts and also killing the Overdraft, its a tricky balancing act. Can't wait untl the Od is paid off, so I can do the payment a day challenge. Can't justify doing that when I am heavily in my OD

I'm the same here im trying to leave all what I can in the bank which in a way is paying of debt. i want to reduce the od as quickly as i can at least to a place where I'm more comfortable.also will reduce the interest i have to pay. will pay something of cc by end of month just dont feel I can do it each week .
You can if you think you can .
  • Regarding returning things can I have your advice lovely people? I bought some Clarks school shoes on the 31st August. The last week of term (20th December) my DS1 informs me the tongue has fallen out! I don't have the original receipt but can show my bank statement for payment. Do you reckon I should try to get a refund or credit note? TBH I'm a little scared to do it, yet I'm really annoyed that £38 worth of shoes fell apart so quickly!!!

HappyTails - You seem to achieve so much! You're a real inspiration to me! I have 3 children, my husband and I are both students plus I'm a Beaver Leader so I make excuses about not having 'spare time' but you seem to achieve so much! I'm going to follow your footsteps and push forward with my 1% via eBay.

NikkeiPositivity - I hope you're OK and everything works out fine for you insurance wise. It was only this year that a claim we had to make due to roughians setting fire to our car didn't need to be declared. It make to much difference but did reduce it by £10 a month.

utopiah - Well done on your first percent! And here's to many more! :T
  • Nicci985 - I would definitely go back to clarks!! A pair of shoes should last longer than three months. A piece falling out of them is ridiculous, sounds like they may not have been stitched properly. Let us know how you get on.

Utopiah - congrats on the first percent, it will become very addictive very quickly and you'll get there quicker than you ever expect.

LittleMiss - good to see you have a contract that will help you along until you find something more permanent. How is the hunting for a permanent role going? I've been in a similar position to you in 2011 and it wasn't much fun. I have every faith that something great is coming your way though, you're such a lovely positive person and you've helped lots of us, Karma is an amazing thing!!!!!

Feeling a little bit sorer today but not as bad as I was expecting, so I've got to go and get a hire car today and then will hopefully be back to work tomorrow.

    Happy Percenting

Clarks shoes are one of the biggest cons of our time in my opinion. Yes I still buy the youngest ones shoes there because they fit them but the quality leaves a lot to be desired for the extortinate prices we pay. Try returning them & see what happens. They are not fit for purpose. If you get no joy then ask for an address where you can write & complain - I got a refund once this way although they were pretty rude about it....

Nicci985 you should definitely try to return those shoes, over the past couple of years I've returned 2 pairs of shoes due to quality issues, like the soles starting to come unstuck etc. and they've always replaced them straight away no problems.

Just take in your bank statement and that should be proof enough if they ask, I'm sure I did that for one pair, as the missus never keeps any receipts.

At the end of the day the worst that can happen is they say no, and you're no worse off, but my experience would be they'll let you return them no problem. Good luck!

    Hi all,

Well ive currently got £44.56 sat in my PP account, £52 due Friday, £20 due next tuesday to go towards Debt 3. Plus ive got bids equalling £10.94 on Ebay atm.

Bringing my total to £127.50  with potentially more ebay bids yet! Thats 14% :D I need to earn another £105.50 from sales etc by the end of Jan to be on target for busting this debt by 31st March. Eeek! I wonder if i can do it! Need to find more things to sell.

If i can clear this by end of March it will be great, will have shaved 6 months off paying mum back, meaning we can focus on the Credit card or overdraft more. It would then leave us 18 months to clear the overdraft, CC and the finance on the husbands car = Total of £9627  £535 a month from April, my oh my that seems like ALOT! But 21 months down the line the only debts we would owe would be our Halifax Loan and our mortgage (should nothing else arise), That would be AWESOME! (getting giddy thinking about it!)
