Oh oh oh I want to join!! I've also recently rediscovered the joys of ebay and 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'! But I've been respending it again!! Doh!!

I want to pay of my credit card so my 1% is £5.00 - I plan to save up it until I reach 5% and then pay off?

    So can I join...please?
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:

    Hi everyone,

I've been looking over MSE for the last few weeks and came across this thread. It's absolutely great, decided that I wanted to join you if that's ok. Being in debt can be so overwhelming sometimes and I've found it really hard to know where to begin. This completely gives us a starting point and some direction.

I've decided to start with the card that's the highest interest. So, our 1% is £30. Would really like to do 1% of the whole debt but it would be too much in one go. £30 feels doable. Feels really great to have a focus.
Things that I'm going to do this week.
    1. List 10 items on eBay
    2. Raid all pockets and drawers
    3. Do a 7 day meal planner that is healthy but using less expensive foods
    4. Complete and frame picture to put on eBay.

Right, better get on with it....!
So nice to be here with other people wanting the same thing.

  • Can I join in too please?

Had to face up this week to being in a complete mess financially and personally. Figure this challenge may help keep me focused to break through the fog and get motivated. May not, but hey ho.

I am taking one debt at a time otherwise I may pass out in fright. First is CapQuest - £574. I think they will take a 50% settlement offer but I am going to go for the £574 because I might be able to pay something else off too if they do accept a full and final offer.

    So 1% = £5.74

Got first 1% today from the penny pot. Had more in there but not enough to fill bags completely so I will revisit that next month.

My plan of action this month is

    1) Dog walking
    2) Jewellery sales
    3) Revisit my listing on fivesquid and see if I can pep it up a little!
    4) Loose change - from pavements, sofas, purses, money boxes, car etc...
    5) Music magpie - never used it but will give it a go
    6) Get rid of my book collection - I am never going to have the time to read it. My debts will take 5 years to clear so if I have time to read, I have time to make money instead.
    7) Gumtree some furniture
    8) Save the change - every time I use my debit card for a purchase, I will round it up to a whole pound and transfer the extra to an online saving account
    9) Finish ebook I started hopefully in time for Xmas purchases
    10) I am self employed, so take on 1 extra job a week to put purely towards the percentage fund.
    11) Competitions
    12) Surveys

God, its hard to realise a) what a mess I am in and b) the effort needed just to clear one debt but I know I can do it. Looked into bankruptcy and it appears so easy but at the last minute I have chickened out and decided to give myself 6 months to try and do it the traditional way!

Morning all. Managed an extra £110 to Debt one which is very very shy of 2% (so an extra 1% than i thought we could manage!) Think we are on 12% (will confirm in a few days when the statement comes as its Husbands)

Sold a pair of unwanted shelves, £10, buyer collecting tonight, sold on FB so no fees :j

Found a few maternity things i can live without so going to pop those up for sale hopefully tonight :) Will be great when i can sell all of it, will be a nice few % i think :)

posted the 2 things i sold on Sunday today, and a big bundle of boys jeans in my Sons next size arrived today, 14 pairs all next or h&m for £3-£4 a pair :T these will do him all of next year, cost me £44 with courier, would only get about 4 pairs for that new and they are excellent condition. Bought these last week with Ebay earnings and im pleased with my bargain, he will be getting all his tops and jackets for Xmas/Bday (both December) so apart from shoes, should be sorted for next year so i wont have clothing expense for him :) Im working on getting bargains for my daughter who is fast outgrowing her current size! So not a % saving as such here but less outlay next year when ill be paying off the CC, and used funds from selling other stuff so this is a positive i think;)

I have done this by selling £27 worth of things on Ebay, mainly for 99p but my best seller has been a mini bottle of perfume which must have been a free sample and a set of Top Gear magnets which were free with the Mag.

I have had £12.50 by converting some Pesos I found in a drawer back to GBP.

I also have £4.50 towards my next 1% from taking 10kg of old clothes and shoes that wouldn't sell on Ebay to a weigh in sale type shop.

My best tip so far would be that the stuff I think it utter tat is the stuff that seems to sell bes on Ebay.

    Good luck all

    Hi,

I'd like to try and make some money from the internet ie - surveys, mystery shopper or Market research. Does anyone have any good websites to go to? I was doing you-gov but its going to take me a good year to make £50! Please help :-)

    Thanks

    Hi,

I seem to be doing a lot of thinking and not a lot of actually "do"ing now its midweek. Finally got a refund of £10 for something I bought on ebay and returned, so I figured as the money was already gone, I might as well transfer it to savings.

Currently have £2.97 of bids on the bay, and they finish tomorrow might so hopefully a few more pennies.

Just a question for everyone whos cashed in coin bags - I've got £4 in coppers now bagged up and ready to go. do you just go the the cash desk in the bank and pay in? I feel a bit stupid paying in £4?!

In my local bank it's the Business Banking desk that you need to go to (it's behind glass and backs onto an office usually). If you go to the front desk when you walk in someone should be able to point you in the right direction :)
    Thank you competition posters!

Don't feel silly, it's all money. If you get a funny look then just say something like "everybody should bring in their coppers that are laying around in jars at home, then then Royal Mint wouldn't need to keep making more! "
Like you're doin them a favour & being a good citizen!

    Keep up the %ing everyone!
I've fallen off the wagon recently but been ebaying & hunting bargains to catch up to where I was before my little blip! :-/
